Looks like you have a monster of a big, beautiful house. Wow! Very formal and elegant garden, and yet personal and sweet. How did you do manage that combination? But you did.

Your vegetable garden is fantastic too. Wowzers! What a corn patch! You must have awesome soil or have built it up. At any rate, I have never had that kind of results on this place. Funny. I had better gardens in town than I do out here in the boonies.

Your place is huge, I can see that, but it doesn't look like you are way out in the country. Almost manor like in appearance - the layout and organization of your whole place. To die for. Lovely, Lovely.

Thank you all - they are definitely very me whatever that is. I actually had more of a color scheme going originally but somehow they have multiplied into every color and I like it. I do have more pastels in the front and hotter colors as you move behind the deck.

The house is not really that big but it's spread out and has a lot of volume.

I really like things rather neat if you can imagine that with all this disorder and I like to see a repetition down the garden of something that is starring at the moment - daffodils in a similar tone in the spring, then the peonies and iris, then the daylilies, later it's asters and phlox.

You know the funny thing about that CindySunshine name is I totally made it up as I was registering on gardenweb out of nothing - but I am definitely a sunshine girl always have loved summer and sunshine.

If you look at that first picture with the front borders, I am standing on the driveway - if you look thru the daylilies (and BTW that is "Cherry Chapeau" that is the brilliant burst of color in the foreground) past the flowers around the lamppost and then the line of big trees, that's where the orchard is - you drive up through it as you go up toward the house. If you turn to your left that's where the butterfly garden is that I posted earlier.

We built the house 20 years ago - we literally crawled thru the brush and hacked things down to find that there was a lovely spot up here to build. I was thrilled to find the combination of trees in the background, but sunny areas around the house for my gardens. The ground was really not very good at all - we built it up mostly with just work, compost, mulch, weeding, weeding, weeding, weeding - sometimes I feel like I've spent half my life weeding - LOL. Here's the vegie garden a couple weeks ago before the corn got so tall...

Quick view of the pond - I took this several weeks ago (notice the same gazing ball that is now engulfed in stuff in those shots this morning - I was worried at the time about the pedestel it stood on and whether I should paint it - like why bother - LOL.

And finally behind the deck - I took this in the spring right after the japanese maples leafed out - my easiest least maintenance area of the garden - all I do is put a handful of fertilizer around them in the spring. They don't even ever get watered, hostas do great.

Those walk-in bay windows were one of my "must have" features when we built. The one to the left of the front door is the dining room - it is so pleasant to have friends over for dinner and enjoy the garden.

Upstairs is also a bay window, too and that used to be my older son's bedroom but now he is out and it is my work at home office. I have a little hummingbird feeder affixed up there and the view is just lovely.

To the right of the front door (and next to the bird bath) is the master bedroom. I sleep on the side of the bed that looks out side and I can even gaze across to the pond when I wake up in the morning. That little basket-like bird feeder that hangs from the hook attracts wonderful birds in the winter.

Here's a view out the bedroom window in early spring and then my sweet little shih tzu puppy, Muffin. Love the little munchkin.

Cindy, your 20 years of hard work have definitely paid off. What an incredible yard/gardens you have. That work of cutting down and ammending the soil must have been quite a chore, but your plants are rewarding you after all your hard work.

Is the island bed in the 3rd photo the same as the 4th? I can't get my orientation straight but they look different. How many island beds do you have? How much property do you have and where are you located?

I'm kind of bummed you promised those were your last photos! I'd love to see many, many more!! Absolutely beautiful!

Flowerchild, the 3rd pic is an island bed but the 4th one is part of the front borders - standing on the drive which comes in on the side and looking around - they curve around the front and end up at the sidewalk that you see in those pics with the front door and then on around to the area that has the birdbath in front of the bedroom.

I worked really hard for a long time and then was out of town for 7 years - I had misc help but they were a total mess. The amazing thing is after clearing away the weeds and the horrible overgrowth, much of the substance is still there. I used to have a lot of asiatic lilies and clumps and those really died out - also a lot of roses just didn't make it thru the neglect, but you can't kill peonies, dayliles, and phlox from neglect and those self-sowing annuals are still there. Amazing.

As beautiful as you pictures are, why would anyone wan them to end? Your garden is truly lovely. Your "munchkin" is too.

All of your flower beds are beautiful, your vegetable bed is enticing, and your willow tree is to die for. Please post another pic of the willow tree. I love willows!!! Thank you.
