Free fig cuttings

My friend just pruned the heck out of three of her fig trees and had 2 large garbage cans filled with the cuttings. Be still my heart! I couldn't let them go out with the garbage so I snagged a bunch of branches.

She said she got the trees from Home Depot here in San Diego. Two are red/black fruit and one is green but all are very sweet and very good flavor according to her. I leave it to your imagination as to what they may be but I'm guessing its within these varieties: Mission, Black Jack, Br turkey, Kadota since these are the most common in Calif. I have nearly 100 12"- 16" cuttings. You pay the postage and handling ($8.00 within the US) and I'll send them out.

milehigh, contact Rolling River directly. They are always replenishing their stock. I have an order for 3 poms that will be ready in a few months. One is available now, but two were not, so I emailed them, and have paid for all 3, and will shipped all 3 when the other 2 are ready to go. They are very nice. Another option is Almost Eden Plants, https://almostedenplants.com/shopping/default.asp They are very nice, and sell basically rooted cuttings for a good price. I was able to pick up a Verdone fig from them. It as so well protected in the shipping box I could barely get it out. And yes, Trees of Joy is taking advantage of the Ebay Fig craze. Amazing. Another option I completely forgot about, if you can find it (one of the really crazy figs in demand) is Ronde de Bordeaux. It is hardy to zone 5, and is extremely good. Patty S.

Hi Eukofios, I sent the following note about a year ago, but you must have been overloaded with requests. At this moment, I would like the get some cuttings for postage, because I have limited ability to trade cuttings right now. I will put you at the top of my cuttings list for future time. "I have three that might interest you and you have four that interest me. I have White Triana, Paradiso (plum sized and sweet) and an unidentified fig that is ball shaped, purple/brown skin/whitish-yellowish-brownish center., very sweet and a little smaller than a golf ball. After they go dormant in two or three months, I will take a few cuttings and would like to trade with you. Of yours, I would like the Desert King, Brunswick, Hardy Chicago and Italian Honey. Figs are AWESOME! They like full sun to dappled shade, a rich, well-draining soil full of organic materials. They are prone to nematode damage, so if your soil has nematodes, grow it in a container. They like regular watering, but somewhat less moisture than other fruit trees. There are many types. Do you know if yours is an edible Fig? some are grown for foliage only. I have about 20 different Fig plants now, courtesy of UC-Davis-they give away free fig cuttings each winter. They are easy to grow from cuttings. Figs are addictive, fun to grow, and they taste WONDERFUL! Lisa

YOU HAVE ANY UNKOWN FIGS, at least, pl. OFFER THEM
as such! There is more than most of us can handle in this
complex fig origin/naming world...

me, you do not want 100+ fig newbies sending you email,
or posting here, asking for their fig id in 2-4 years time.

I only disagree with the delivery method.
Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut and let it all play out...

Thinking hard, one possible solution:
Since twigs came from 3 (mixed up) trees and the standard
also being 3 cuttings per specimen, supply 9 (randomly mixed)
cuttings per offer. Keep track who got what, compare results
and ID them as a GROUP. That should bring down the confusion
factor by ~10 to the satisfaction of everybody.
