I have rooted xmas cactus, epiphyllum pumilum (always) and a noid Brugmansia, lychee tree, sweet gum tree, trumpet vine (campsis radicans). I'm trying to root some whitfeldia lactea, clerodendrums musical notes and ugandanese but it isn't going well. Can bring cuttings of other items from my bookmark list, lmk. I have tons of white datura seed pods if anyone's interested. Lori Tom--are you going? if so I'll bring you your stuff...I have a new car that can carry it now, lol. I got there yesterday at 8:20am and had to park in the 4th line of cars!!! I usually get there at that time and I'm in the first row. It was really crowded. I was looking for a nice plant to put in the bed on the side of my house facing the street (I'm on the corner lot) to replace an Indian rubber vine. I got a 3 gal hibiscus for $5! It is beautiful. Not a fancy tropical or a double, but the color was just breathtaking. I got it at Esperanza's Garden Center booth. Seemed like a family run business and she gave me a card. They are at 6001 Haines Rd in St. Pete. They had beautiful plants and the prices were so low, but I really can't go digging any more holes in the yard. I have enough to take care of now. I got my free plant(lantana). Only got one this year because my DH was home sick. Did get one little plant from Colorfield Farms (they have great stuff) but I have no idea what it is!lol It's an oak or maple flowering plant with pink & yellow flowers. Also came in red & yellow. I love the Green Thumb Festival. They are so well organized. I wish they would change one thing...keep the dogs out. It's so crowded and everyone's pulling a wagon, some people trying to get by in scooters and then you have two or three people with dogs getting all tangled up. All in all, it's one of the best sales you can go to. Julie

Hi Tom, So you're in St. Pete on the bay? I could definitely use some of those containers. I'm in north Tampa, though, so I'd have to sort of plan out the trip. By the way, I was just emailing with Elizabeth from Daytona, and she asked if I had met an awesome gardener named Tom from Tampa - I wonder if you're that Tom. Also, your neighbors have coconuts? I've really been wanting to try to grow a coconut palm, even though I don't know if it would survive. Do you think they might be willing to sell me a couple? Are they dwarfs or talls?

Tom, do they like constant moisture, ie, should one go in a SWC? Brenie, these are perennial...I'd just put them in the ground. I doubt they'd do any better than grape vines would in an SWC. Beautiful! My two are rotting. One has a 3" shoot and the other, with the worst rot, just barely has the growth showing. Sigh..... V, if you see rot that fruit/seed is history but don't give up, maybe it's the variety you bought. If you want I'll buy five more from SweetBay and see how it goes. They were only 59 cents each. If I get them started you can come over to the VA hospital and pick them up...just let me know. Tom
