Instant Rebloom Has Already Started!

I had rediculous re-bloom last year, and I found instant re-bloom scapes on three plants today: Winner's Trophy, Brazen Bandit (didn't happen last year) and Cosmic Kaleidescope! Wow! I wonder hoew it is going to go this year.

KAY.I think thats great.I found a rebloom scape coming on WONDER OF IT ALL, too. Really have not looked for any rebloom scapes.I seen that one while taking pictures this morning..You are having a great year,so far.

I didn't know there was such a thing as instant rebloom if it hadn't already bloomed. Learn something new every day! GSTQ is really strutting her stuff! Two fans to ten is amazing. I got Happy Returns last year and already like it better than Stella and am seriously thinking about getting rid of the rest of my Stellas. Like you Christine, I can think of a lot of other daylilies I'd rather have taking up that space. I'm not much for gold anyway (unless it's jewelry, of course), but I have Condilla which I like because of it's distinguishing shape and Mary's Gold which I love because of its height. As I was outside today cleaning up daylilies up on the plateau in the back I did notice what I had not noticed before. All those Emmerich intros that are up there that are supposed to have instant rebloom did indeed have instant rebloom as they were double scaped. That means first scapes and second scape right on top of it. Gives for lots of bloom but harder for me to notice as rebloom. You have to follow each scape down into its fan to see if its a two for one or not. I found that easier to do now that there are few flower buds left on most of those scapes. But truely, I just didn't think to look. I looked when scapes started blooming for shorter new scapes coming but mostly didn't see those so thought no rebloom on them. But I was wrong. Problem is that double scaped doesn't extend the length of the season, just gives lots more flowers. I wonder if they will rebloom again the regular rebloom way? Humm, that would be a treat! Now on the Emmeriches planted in the redone veggie bed they are having rebloom but those scapes while big enough to have buds are considerably behind the original scapes. So easier for me to spot. Also there is a Mike Derrow intro up there in the veggie garden, Lunar Empire. Gosh, it has such great branching and big strong scapes. Today I look really closely and there are rebloom scapes on each fan that is currently blooming. Very impressive as there are already tons of buds from the original scapes. I was looking for a great yellow and sure picked the right one when I found Lunar Empire :-)

What kind of hibiscus is it? Texas star (coccineus) or one of the dinnerplate Baltimore types? I have Texas Star and no buds yet - but if it blooms early that's fine with me. I think (not sure) that hibiscus is supposed to be constant blooming - I would be inclined to just let yours bloom and see what happens - give it some flower boosting fertilizer and see if you can get summer long bloom. My asters aren't doing anything.

Unless he is going to stay on it for life, I would NOT recommend Paxil. I was on it for depression, and while it helped that, it completely zapped my sex drive. And when I did have sex, it was like I was numb - not exactly satisfying. When I tried to get OFF Paxil, it was awful. I had taper down very, very slowly over a period of a month or so, or else my brain would get these weird and uncomfortable feelings, like electrical jolts. At the end I was cutting the pills into 1/8ths, no easy feat. Many, many other people have had the same problem getting off of Paxil. Some people resort to getting liquid Paxil during their attempt to taper, since it is easier to measure the small amounts. There are websites devoted to it, and there have been lawsuits. On the other hand, my friend who was on it did not have a problem. Go figure. I switched to Wellbutrin, and it is great. No side effects, and I even went 4 days without it once (stupid pharmacy and doc) with no problem. With Paxil, I skipped a day once, simply forgot to take it, and by the next day I was already feeling those weird brain things. For awhile after I finally got off of it, probably 4 - 6 months, I was getting just horrendous instant headaches, um, in bed. It was like flicking a light switch - one second I was fine, then the next, BANG, a crushing pain in my head. (sorry if that is TMI, but I wouldn't wish the withdrawals and lingering side effects on anyone.) And sorry for the hijack. I wish you luck and success with your hoarder. Rebloomers for me so far are TIC TAC TOE, BOLD MOVE, RED CHILE RENDEZVOUS, BECAUSE OF YOU (all Maryott), WITCHES WINK (E. Salter), and DARK REFLECTION (K. Mitchell).

Also I'm not sure whether DOUBLE DOWN (Breeden) is reblooming or if it just increased faster than I realized.

Kay - I'm glad to hear about your rebloom scapes. With your season starting early, it will be nice to have rebloom scapes continuing the show in June and July. Like Jean, I've got instant rebloom scapes coming on Wonder of it All. And I have rebloom scapes emerging on three that haven't even started blooming yet: Winter Treasure, Blushed with Emerald and Annabelle's Blush. I think it's a combination of last weekend's good, soaking rain and all the watering I've been doing to compensate for the lack of rain in April.

Maybe rebloom is going to be extra good all up and down the east coast and midwest because of the hot weather to start off spring in March. Plus lots of rain always helps.

Kay, I wouldn't be surprised if your rebloom was even better than last year as your daylilies are older and more established.

I hope we all get lots of rebloom! Although I'm not sure that rebloom is always better with more mature daylilies. Colorado Blues rebloomed 3 times the 1st year after I got it. It was one of the 1st to bloom that year & one of the last to bloom. Last year it didn't rebloom at all.

I've seen rebloom scapes on Tropical Sensation and Kathy Chenet so far. Seems like there was another, but I forget who right now.

Well, we haven't gotten a lot of rain here. first part of april we got rain for a couple days straight, but since then, nO rain except for a little light sprinkle one day, just enough to wet the grass, didnt do the daylilies any good at all,I had to go water them.
