I just finished moving my Sea Holly from from the back of the south border this fall -- shaded roots there I believe the cause of it's languishing and not thriving state. My chosen new position is full sun west border, to I hope.. give it more hot sun exposure and get the bluist. The tap root looks fragile. I mixed in a lot of gravel at the bottom. It hates wet. The flop thing is what it is. I have it standing in a narrow tomato support. Presto !.... Let's wait & see.

So, how has this one been performing? I must say, I love the 'idea' of sea hollies, but the variegated one I have planted in my front (jade frost?) is making me nertz. Any good rainstorm (and we've had some fantastic ones this season) and the thing is splayed down and growing sideways. And I am truly loathe to stake plants - I guess I resist that finicky side of things for some reason. Does anyone else have this problem? Though maybe I can invest in some good stakes and be done with it.

Rouge, Love the colour on your ?Big Blue; never seen that one offered here. I have the plain old Eryngium planum which escaped an old filled-in garden bed and has selfseeded willy-nilly along the periphery of our tree-lined property. I love how the sunlight reflects off it in the morning hours; it certainly tolerates the limited sunlight there. I also picked up Blue Hobbit this year but it's still waiting to be planted. How has Neptune's Gold done for you? I considered purchasing it last year as I love the contrast between foliage and flowers but I read some reviews that it is a weak plant so left it on the shelf. Hope you have had success with it.
