Well I like VT Flat Gold just fine even though it's a simple bloom, typical of the Darrow cultivars. The fact that it blooms so early and is such a bright, happy color makes it special in it's own way. I ordered quite a few of those Olallie daylilies (lates) and they all look like simple forms but I see the merit now of latebloomers which just aren't fancy at all. Their beauty lies in blooming when all the fancypants ones are done. I love all your pretty iris, especially that pink one. Those rose planters are done so nicely and really showcase all your pretty roses. Some of my earliest roses are starting up, like the rugosas and scotch roses but you are way ahead of me. That last picture is wonderful.

Thank you all. Yes, I am seeing lots of scapes already and more show up each day. Right now the roses are just really starting to bloom. It is the best time for them.

The VT early bloomers are rather plain but they are early and they start off the daylily season which is what I wanted. Their late bloomers are better as you can get colors other than yellow or gold (only yellow or gold available for the early blooms).

The first daylily blooms are always special. Love the ones that extend the season in both directions. The rest of the flowers you have blooming are all nice. Love that last picture of your roses.

That is a nice first one!! Your roses are beautiful. I also really like that last picture. The half round planters were such a good idea.

Plain is not always a bad thing, I'm always happy to see that first bloom. You are really so bad for me though. I see all these plants in your garden & realize I have to have them myself. I've added a few clematis, but they haven't bloomed much, maybe when they mature next year. Yours look so pretty. The roses are stunning!

Nancy, I get inspired by what I see in other peoples gardens myself. There always seems to be something to add to the garden. These clematis have been here afew years now so are really starting to show off.

This is very early for the big spring flush of roses but apparently they are early like most everything else this spring.

YEP, and I cant wait to see all your gorgeous pictures of all of them, too.ALL the flowers,I love to see them all. I saved some of your rose pictures last year so I could go back and look at them again and again. They are beautiful. and some of the back yard daylilies, too. They are so beautiful when they in bloom,and your pictures are fantastic.
