Oh thank you, Annie! She is a beauty, what gorgeous markings she has!! I love these dogs, smart, friendly, loving, all the good things you could want in a dog. Does she hunt coon? Lots of coon hunting goes on in this country. Often, when the Rancher would take the dogs out they would proceed from one treed coon to the next without ever coming back in. The Rancher would just drop a boot or a coat where they had started from and the next morning the dogs would be at the spot waiting to be picked up. He was always so proud when he hunted them with other people and their dogs because most of the time the other folks' dogs would go off after a porcupine or skunk. Or their dogs would climb a tree after a coon and then not know that they were supposed to kick the coon out and then go kill it. The rancher would always have to climb the tree, kick out the coon and then kick out the dog because it wouldn't come back down. Blue and Katie never did. They were so well trained. When we tell Blue he is handsome he does this goofy side to side hopping thing and you just can't stop yourself from laughing. Aren't the ears just the softest thing you ever laid hands on? Oh, enjoy her Annie, a good coon dog is a very wonderful thing!

Oh my yes...well, I am sure she did and was trained before we got her. When we rescued her, she was starved nearly to death! Only weighed about ten pounds and the ticks! My god.
She bellows at the cats and chases them up trees and stays there until I come.Well, now she is learning that the cats are not varmints and they are getting along better. She still does a "little" It is her nature and training. Last week I took her up on the hill where DH was clearing a path to string the fence. I told her, "Go find Daddy." She took off and soon was bellowing and had treed him...or she thought. He had hung his hoody up in a tree. She stood there stretched out and pointing and looking over her shoulder back at me. "See? I found his scent...up here!" She was so proud. It was amazing, really.

She goes out every morning and tracks the critters that came up on our patio the night before or in the wee hours of the morning. No sooner than she has exited the back door, she finds their scent and I mean RIGHT NOW! When I call her, she comes straight away. She is a very good dog. Learns so fast. Very sweet.

Anyway, glad you like my Bonnie Bell. She's a dandy alright. Poor little girl has gone through a lot in her young life. She deserves a loving family to call her own.

Annie, I just adore picture #2. Pretty garden with pretty dog. I love how she is looking back at you as if "are you coming?" I'm so happy she has you!

I love picture #2 as well. Isn't she sweet? Amazing what love and care will for do a dog...or anyone else!

She sleeps downstairs in the basement on her big fat sofa pillow. It is a huge stuffed throw pillow - the kind made for floor sitting. She loves it! I gave her a fancy dog pillow, but she prefers that old Hippie floor pillow. She likes the isolation when she sleeps and feels safer down there. She is afraid of storms.

It stayed dark all day today and she didn't come up until around 4 this evening. When she emerged, she was hysterically happy to see me. She was bellowing and jumping around and up in my lap. (I have GOT to trim her hails!)

She went out with me to take care of the chicks this evening - feed, fresh water and put them to bed. She stayed right outside the henhouse door until I was through. I figured she would take off, but she was there waiting when I came out. Then she erupted into joyous bouncing and happily totted along beside me back to the house. What a cutie.

She had puppies just before we got her. I don't know what became of them. I never saw them, but she still had milk. Poor little mama dog and pups. That won't be her fate ever again.

I love her,too. My favorite photo is also the second one, I miss my Lena. Unfortunately at my place the road has become way too busy to allow a dog off the lead anymore. Plus I'd have to train them to not chase Amish buggies!

My dad used to raise bluetick coonhounds and she looks just like one. Boy that brings back the memories! I actually went out several times, running through the woods in the dark with a flashlight. Crazy!

She sure has a great owner now!
