Endless Summer hydrangeas - who grows them?

DH and I did some major plant shopping at our favorite nursery this morning. Along with some fruit trees, roses (yes, more roses) and a new clem, we are now the proud owners of two ES hydrangeas. I am planning on potting them up in half wine barrels for the deck. They are quite large already, about 2' x 2'. Do any of you have them growing in large containers? If so, how are they doing? I want to grow them on my deck, under the pergola where they'll get the afternoon filtered shade they'll need.

I also bought bags of azalea/camelia soil for them since it's more acidic than regular potting soil. Would you mix this with compost or just use it straight? I want the flowers to be blue so was thinking of using it straight. I give my blueberries cottonseed meal and they seem to like it so I could add some of it too, if you think it would help. I don't want to over do it but I do want the flowers to be blue.

TIA!

Diana
