WANTED: Any Portland area swaps?

Does anyone know of any plant swaps in the Portland area this spring? I hope to go to the one in Newcastle, but after taking last summer and fall off for some surgery and recovery, I'm finding a lot of little seedlings all over the place, plus a lot of the annuals I've wintersowed (planted way too many, as usual). LOL.

I'd love to go to one too...the one up in WA sounds like it was just fabulous...of course I've traded or given away several good size offspring of plants via pdxplantswap, but I still have a few things left...

I have quite a few perennials that I would like to give away to someone who would come get them. I just don't have time to pot them up and label them. I don't want anything in trade, I just hate to compost them but they've got to go making a new seating area. Many are not fancy though.... I have: Brunnera, plain green species Oriental fountain grass Hellebore seedlings, H. foetidus "stinking hellebore" Feverfew Rose campion Lamb's ears Sedum 'Autumn Joy' Squill asst white and blue Muscari, grape hyacinth, common blue one Lily of the Valley Viola odorata 'Lianne' a sweet violet cultivar Aquilegia, columbines, dark blue single flowers Unknown large growing yellow hardy waterlily

Angela has set a plan for Sellwood Park in early April (see her more recent Post for details) ... and I'd also like you to reserve April 21, 2007 for a what I HOPE will be a big Plant/Seed Swap and Give-away. April 21 Pant & Seed Swap info: Please add to your usual list of Portland-area Spring Swaps this one, combined with the Friends of Portland Community Gardens, to beef-up their annual Plant and Seed Give-Away, on Saturday, April 21. This happens at the Annual EARTH DAY Celebration - which this year is appropriately to be called: Planting the Seeds of Community - So, GardenWebbers!! Please attend, invite all your Garden Clubs, and help give that theme some meaning... Earth Day 2007 will be held in NE Portland at Woodlawn Park, near the Woodlawn Elementary School and Community Garden, just north of 11th & NE Dekum. Lots will be going on,including music, and a great Kids Play area. Over 100 organizations participated last year! # 75, 8 bus, & # 6 are close. All connect to MAX. Anywhere from 1,000 to 5,000 people, including many new, young homeowners, may attend...so begin your Winter Sowing now, to pot-on in April, and also think what you'd like to divide - as WE NEED PLANTS! Want to clear out that seed bin? Ok to break down store seed packets in to Smaller, labelled Seed packets. Any are wonderful...as there will be many grateful takers, who will surely reciprocate in coming years. The City Repair is a pay-it-forward culture, and they coordinate this free, positive Earth Day observance. It's best to come to Earth Day 2007 in the morning, as crowds may be large after noon. Whatever is there could go fast. OK to drop off stuff, then park by my house if you like, on NE 9th Ave. Leftover items from Angela's Swap can be easily given away on Earth Day, April 21. I have shady storage space to gather things all during April, & I live near Woodlawn Park where 2007 Earth Day will be held. When? Where? I'm definitely interested since I won't be able to get to the Newcastle swap because of the nasty weather. We had snow this morning and it's supposed to be worse tomorrow. And I have lots of plants to trade or give away when I can get to them. After all, this white stuff can't last forever, can it?

Me! me! I've just moved and have a blank yard! Luckily, I do have a few things from winter sowing to swap. I would love to attend a Portland swap!

The 4th Annual Brooklyn Plant Swap (in Portland) is scheduled for May 18th from 10 AM to 2 PM. I just got the email notice from Kathleen this morning. If anybody would like the info, email me and I'll pass it on.

I missed it since I sold my house and had to move.

However I bought a house with much LARGER garden - and would love to host a September Swap. (Am also Hosting a Medium Women's Clothing Swap - email me off list if interested in that one...)

HAVE: For the Sept Swap
I can take cuttings of a Prune Tree
I've got that has 5 varieties grafted on.

There will be a ton of Walnuts and Hazelnuts for those who want to harvest them.

Cheyenne Privet Cuttings for a natural hedge.

Wisteria and Honeysuckle cuttings,
and variagated Buddelia.

Also have MANY Radishes that have gone to seed - so you can take all you like - the flowers taste like radishes and are nice in salads, and as a garnish/seasoning for other dishes.

WANT: Your extra Tomatoes, Peppers, and Zuchini - as my move prevented me from having a normal veggie garden!

Berries and Fruit Tree Saplings, including Euro and Asian Pear, Apple, Fig, Grape, everbearing Strawberries, Blueberries, Kiwi and more.

Any preferences for a Date? We can do this rain or shine as I have a long (covered) carport. Max Shuttle #22 stops at the house, on 105th & NE Shaver.

Any date in September would be fine with me except the 13th which is Bejoy 2's swap in Olympia. My husband drives fast, but even he would have a hard time making it to Olympia and Portland in the same day. LOL. I'm sure I'll have a ton of stuff - as usual. I'll post my list later after I see what the deer, dry weather and slugs leave me to trade.

I would be thrilled to go to a Sept swap! I mostly have potted medicinal weed-type plants (comfrey, mullein, lamb's quarters, etc.) and houseplants, as I don't have a yard, but I'd love to check out what folks are doing and chat.

That said, I'm looking for a variegated jade cutting.
