Had a blast. Walked around for about three hours this morning. Have names on most of these, if anybody wants specific ones. Need to get out to the Harper Collection and Ken's place before the end of the week.

Looks wonderful. I really wanted to make it up there this spring but never made it. Going up there now would just be a tease.

We want to seeeeeeee! :) Posting pics here can be a challenge, but once you do it once, you'll always know how to do it again. Remember, you can always upload pics to an online photo album and just post a link to the photo album in the little "optional link URL" text box below where we type replies. In any case, here's the code I use to post pics, and there are two things to note, first, you need to replace the ( with a . Second, the part in the middle, from the first " through the final " is the link to the actual photo. For me, that means I go to my picasaweb, click on the photo to view the full size, then I right-click on it to view "properties" and then copy/paste the actual link address into the middle. It sounds more odious than it is. So first off, here is the whole thing with the ( instead of the . (img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-VPgKbezjQ5U/TwDlKiK5AUI/AAAAAAAAJ_k/SNfTnLdAyvM/s512/Variegated%252520Gazania%252520bloom%252520January%2525201st.jpg") HERE it is as above, but WITHOUT the address pointing to a specific picture (img src="") And finally, here is the EXACT text as the first one, but with the instead of the ( and the ). Hi i realise many people on this site are from the usa.Is there anyone here who knows a place in the uk or europe where rare conifers can be bought?Im happy to pay a high price for the rare ones as i think i will be able to claw back a lot from propogating them later on.Just need to find a good supplier.

Gee Farms Bush's Lace, Pendula Bruns, and Green Arrow

Thanks for the reply. I know the Bush's Lace is wider which is why it is the one I am most concerned about. I have seen a mature size listed of 40 feet tall by 15 wide. Somewhere else I saw something saying 6 feet wide. 7-10 feet wide is much easier for me to place than 15. I also have 8 Thuja occidentalis 'Emerald' that I am using in a fairly small space. I wanted some premium trees to go with the Arborvitae fillers. I have already found that I do not like the Cham noot 'Green Arrow' next to the Thuja occ 'Emerald'. The 'Green Arrow' looks a dull green in comparison to the 'Emerald' green. Also the architectural drama of the 'Green Arrow' was lost amongst the Arborvitaes. So I have moved it to a more prominent spot by itself. The 'Bush's Lace' and Picea omorika 'Pendula Bruns' hold their own next to or in front of the Arborvitaes. None of them are planted yet. Just moving the pots around to find a good arrangement. Now I know why Arrowhead Alpines calls such pots BAP. Big A.. Pots indeed.

I just ordered two items from them (a Japanese white pine for bonsai and Abies koreana 'Gait') from them. They are still honoring the prices from their 2010 on-line catalog, and they charged me the actual cost for shipping (less than $10). You will need to to call them directly to place the order...in my case, I had to call twice to actually get the order through. But it was well worth the effort.

Big inventory of plants I've wanted for a while. Too bad they won't ship to the West coast. Maybe Mr. Gee trades? :)

Was a mystery shopper. Didn't see anybody around aside from the ladies up front and some very busy young guys driving around picking up plants.

I was amazed at how big some of the stuff was, including a ton of cedars that aren't supposed to be hardy here.

Great photos. Some really large sizes for those looking, and you have the back to plant them.

FFWill, bet you have conifers he doesn't and it's always worth a shot to call and see if he would be interested in a trade.

Gary,Kay and family were the best hosts last summer for
ACS visit and huge under-tent lunch.
Have had a few road trips w/Mr.G,always the great and fun guy to be around and as knowledgeble as the best of them.

Jon, it's to bad that you didn't meet one person of the Gee family, they're realy nice persons!

They have a great nursery and a huge assortment of conifers.
Also their big Arboretum is very nice to visit!

The nudi lady was there as well last winter.
It looks to me that she's looking more happy now.
I guess I would also look happier in this time of year with the same scarce cloting on ;0)

My friend Gary is on his way to The Netherlands, I'll see him again tomorrow.
Indeed, he's a fun guy to travel with, he's joking all the time :0)

Nice! Thanks for the tour. I have to admit, I'm a bit envious since there are no nurseries anywhere in my neck of the woods with this sort of material (which is why I must resort to mail order as my exlusive source for plant aquisition...at least, until I want a 'mugo pine' seed grown and sheared, 'Hoopsi' blue spruce, or 'gold threadleaf cypress').

What plants did you bring home with you? Any pictures of those? Would be interested to see what caught your fancy.
