What to Plant Under White Trees and Shrubs?

Nell Jean

I have an area that is planted with white trees and shrubs that bloom in sequence:

White Loropetalum, Dogwood, Philadelphus, Gardenias and white Crape Myrtle. They surround a tiny patio area on two sides, there's a pumphouse on the east side. The south is taken up by a huge Red Cedar and a little grove of Sassafras and some other things, including a white spirea.

The only shrub with color is a summer blooming althea (hibiscus syriacus) that has mauvy colored blossoms.

The loropetalum and gardenias are evergreen. The gardenias will grow, quickly. there's a four foot one out of site to the right and the philadelphus is past that.

What would you add in the way of perennials and annuals?

Nell
