hi i bought my mum paw paw twig extract when she had cancer,but i think it was too late for her as when they found out she had it it was in her colon and had spread to her pelvis, liver, lungs and brain,she had had no change in her bowel movements,just that she had been doing less,but that was down to eating less,(the only symptom she had) her lower abdomen had been making really loud noises for sometime though,sometimes it sounded like someone had just pulled a plug out out and you could here water gushing,but after taking the paw paw for about a month this all stopped,the one i got you were meant to take 2x3 a day,but they were quite big and my mum has always found it hard to swallow,so i was just giving her 1x3 a day,she was 83 the doc gave her weeks but she lasted 10,but in all that time she had no pain what so ever,i would have loved to know if the paw paw had made any difference,but we ll never know,but the doctor and nurses could nt get over the fact she had no pain,she went very pieceabley,as she slept the last 2 days...but what id really like to know can you take the extract if you dont have cancer,on the website i first found out about it,it said not to take unless you have cancer as if you hav nt got it,it attacts the fastest mutating cells,which are your diagestive system as they re the next fastest to cancer,yet it says nothing about this on the supplement page,if anyone knows more please let me know,as theres still half a bottle left,thanks cathie

Definitely thinking about doing it, seriously now. I have nothing to lose, other than about $50 for 2 trees. I've had less fun with $50. :) I've narrowed it down to 3. NC-1 - Early Ripener, highest scores on UKY taste test. Shenandoah - Early Ripener, a farmers market favorite. Susquehanna - Mid-Season, very little seed, 5 for 5 on taste testers, even in limited quantity. Considering the short shelf life, I may want to spread out the 2 tree harvest, so I may go with NC-1 and Susquehanna I gotta be honest, the mortality rate definitely scares me a bit (50%?!?!?). Im not a green thumb, but I did plan out and put in 3 apple trees in a difficult sun situation, that now works well, they seem to be OK so far. Apples are pretty easy though. From what I've read, bare root is a no-no unlike apple trees. I am 99% sold on One Green World, even though they are 5 business days shipping away from me, Oregon to New York. Do they come potted from them? I DO want potted plants, and I'll want to essentially bury the contents of the pot into the ground to not disturb the tap root(s). I've got a long time to read about this stuff, it just seems to be different from apple trees, no diseases or pests to worry about other than the above mentioned rabbits, which are scoring the cherry tree I have because the previous owner didnt put up protection, but I have hardware clothed out the apples as a precaution, and I would do the same for the Paw Paws. I understand that I would have to self-pollinate. Learn, learn, learn, apply. Any advice on narrowing down between the 3 varieties to 2, but Im thinking it doesnt matter, they're probably all excellent. Thanks everyone for the posts, its all been really helpful. -Eric

When was it first noticed about the way some of the leaves look? I have a Wabash and a Sunflower that are about a year or two older in containers and they suffered some in mid Summer,the Wabash more so,even though it is bigger.I moved them to more filtered light.They didn't get worse,but the burned leaves stayed the same.Some varieties may be more light sensitive. Gonebananas, Thanks for the info. It's helpful to know that here might be too warm for the paw paw. If it's not their ideal planting zone, I probably will not consider messing around with it. Fruit trees can be fussy when coming to the suitable climate to grow them. I know there are some which are less fussy than the others, but having planted tropical trees for close to 10 years now, I realize that there have been a lot of trial and errors with time wasted as well when they don't make it, or become diseased. I thought I could count on the citrus fruit trees ... but with the on going greening disease, not any more. I'm hoping though that the lemon and lime trees will do better though. I have yet to research more on that. Are you into planting bananas? Just thought you might from your user name. I do have many varieties of them, but I'm now more focused on growing Raja Puri because of its consistent fruit production. Thanks again for the info on growing paw paw. It definitely does sound like an interesting fruit.
