A few radom pics (56k warning)

Dusted off the camera again, this being my favorite time of year.

Found a new botanical garden just 2 blocks from my work - Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden. It's roughly 2 years old on 100 acres on what was trac housing +30 years ago. The houses were moved late 70s/early 80s for airport expansion. Many of the old neighborhood plantings still exist.

Not sure what this weeping pine is:

Abies concolor?

What I believe to be a Rocky Mountain Douglas fir:

Pinus monticola? ID needed. #1

Pinus nigra?

According to one grounds keeper these are 100 year old bonsai pines planted 2 years ago. I'm no pinus fan but they appear to be Pinus ponderosa.

The weeping pine is a Pinus strobus cultivar.

The "Abies concolor?" isn't A. concolor; not quite sure what without more detailed close-ups
of shoots from above and below (and ideally a cone, but looks like there's none on the tree).

"What I believe to be a Rocky Mountain Douglas fir" - yes

"Pinus monticola? ID needed. #1" - can you get a close-up of a cone?
An old one from last year off the ground would be OK.

"Pinus nigra?" - Scots Pine P. sylvestris.

Wow...your new botanical garden find is a gem!
Love that weeping Pinus strobus...

Here in California I've heard talk of converting housing projects BACK to agricultural land.

I started out by blogging on Blogger, but then switched to Wordpress.com. I then found that the free wordpress blog (wordpress.com) places ads on your posts which you can't see when you're logged in, unless you pay a fee. So I switched to a self-hosted site and used the wordpress.org software. It costs a bit more, but it's customizable, etc, and I use it for business as well as hobbies. But for a free blog, I think Blogger works really well. Blogger is integrated well into marketing since it's owned by Google, so it pops up pretty frequently for me in searches. I also think that Blogger or Wordpress work better than Tumblr or Pinterest for posting original blogging content, if you're at all worried about people using your images without permission, since they both make it easy to repost your content. But if you don't really care about that, they work fine. Pinterest and Tumblr also seem to be more picture heavy, rather than written content or a combination, in my opinion.

count_d, I purchased my plant from Tony at ExoticPlantsPlus.com the home of Par O Bek Orchids! http://www.exoticplantsplus.com/ thespirals, I keep it growing up by using the metal chain of the hanging basket. By moving some of the leaves to the inside of the chain and letting the plant then rest against it, the plant grows more upwards. Once it gets past the metal chain I have large s hooks which I then use orchid flower spike clips to clip the nep vine to the s hook. You do not need to cut your nep. I do it when it reaches the ceiling which is 3 to 4 feet from the hanging basket. I would not cut it till you have new growth at the bottom of your plant which you say you do. My first time cutting the plant I was about 12" above the soil for my cut. Cutting the plant usually causes more basal shoots to form which will make your plant bushier, as they grow. Also usually a node below the cut will start to grow. Seeing the effects of cutting the plant from the first time, the second time I cut it was much closer to the soil, but I had several new basal points growing which were several inches tall by then. You end up with several new plants to trade away if you try to root your cuttings. Below is a link to rooting nep cuttings. This is the way I do mine and have great success, only have lost 1 cutting. Rational-a different kind of oven

@JCTW - 1, I have not found any forums around combi oven usage because there has been so few people that have taken the effort to put in a combi oven due to the electrical requirements. Frankly its the same as putting in a Level 2 charger for a Tesla or any other electric car. 2. We bought new as these ovens can run 24x7 in certain professional kitchen environments. Clearly i would consider a used model if you got an amazing price and if you could validate the condition and # of cycles it has gone through . Electric has a longer lifespan vs gas just due to the nature of how combustible gas works. 3. We have service from the company that installed it in for us and they have been phenomenal. No issues really after you put it in and follow the cleaning cycles. These machines are meant to run full time in service kitchens. My only advise to share is to look at the 61 model that takes a GN 1/2 pan vs the XS that takes a GN 2/3 pan. The price difference is minimal but you cant roast a 20Lb turkey or a 6 bone prime rib in a XS . Good luck

That second shot with the weeping strobus, water feature, and rocks - wow! Some nice cones in there too. And the Japanese maple. Thanks for the tour.

Hi very nice.

Those bonsai's are Pinus nigra. The first photo is Pinus sylvestris also. See the more yellowing coloration on the candles and while the first photo doesn't show as much of the orange bark it's because it's younger yet, I believe. The one's Resin identified as Pinus sylvestris you'll see almost completely orange bark but on a Pinus nigra you'll see the same orange color with inlaid or patterns of chunks of darker bark as well.

Your P. monticola id - looks like it could be P. peuce or monticola, to me.
