Planting too deep = less/no bloom?

Seems to me I read somewhere on this forum a discussion on how deep to plant daylilies and the point was made that if they are planted too deep [more than an 1" to 1 1/2" above the root joint] it would inhibit the ability of the plant to bloom.

Does anyone remember the discussion or do you have any knowledge or experience with this situation??
