My coneflowers are dying!!

Hi Guys

So yesterday morning I just bought these beautiful coneflowers from a garden center near my home. The weather was scorching hot, dry and humid and since I had errands to run that day the plants were left in the car. By 7.00 that evening they had completely wilted. I decided to plant them anyway! I used lots of compost and mulch and planted them in my garden (that is exposed to full sun) and by this afternoon they completely crusted up. The leaves are brown and crunchy and some of the stems are brown too. I don't think disease is my problem here and I want to do my best to revive what looks like dead plants!!!! I put in some Miracle Grow but I don't know what else to do... I am a new gardener and have not had previous experience. Am I wasting my time by trying to revive these plants or should I just chuck them? These days are disgustingly hot and humid and I don't think that is helping my plants either.....
