Black Walnut vs Beebalm

jibd

Hi all,

This summer, I planted a pink variety of monarda (bee balm) under the dripline of our black walnut tree; every list we looked at said bee balm was tolerant of the black walnut tree. This particular cultivar did poorly though, and soon showed walnut wilt and had to be rescued and potted and to this day hasn't recovered. Has anyone had better luck with other varieties? I would like to have 'Jacob Cline' Bee balm if it were tolerant. Any shared experience is greatly appreciated!
