I actually believe it is a Spanish Bayonet. This is based off of pictures on google. Does anyone think it is cold hardy in North East Washington DC Zone 7?

maybe a Yucca aloifolia, hardy to 7a but others say zone 8. but I would put it on the south side somewhere if possible . I am not from Washington DC so I can't tell you anything but tell you its rating. It looksa bit like the Green Cordylene australis.

It seems like there are some "pups" at the bottom. If it were mine, I think that when spring arrives, I'd separate the small ones and repot them, and plant the big part outdoors in the ground, in a protected spot if possible. Meanwhile, the smaller part that is in a pot can go back into the greenhouse, so in case the outdoor one dies, at least you will not have lost the whole plant. Also, meanwhile, you may get a better ID and find out more about hardiness.

It seems like gloriosa that needs more sun, hard to say. You can cut off a branch and root it as well--at least you can here. One of the neighbors planted cuttings and has many trees of it now. -5F hardiness.

This plant can survive a Zone 7a in the desert but not in wet Washington D.C. Water + Cold = Death. I always kept my in doors. I seen a name but can't recall. The elephant foot bottom is the clue.
Spineless yucca (Yucca elephantipes). Its size depends on the size of the container, but in the wild they can grow up to 30 feet tall. Below is the link to check out.

I have only seen desert Yucca here in Calif. in high deserts, I have seen them on the way to Las Vegas under snow in December. Native species do no look like yours, I live in Zone 9A International zone 21 we can't grow them here.

There is always trimming it downward so it will branch AND BE LOWER and then continue to keep it inside. It does look like the Y elephantipes. That is hardy to 15F. not hardy enough for north Washington. The night I was there , it was 11F.

Cut only the first 1 foot off of the tall stocks. They are easly to root. If you cut off too much. It is harder to root. Use the same method that 'pirate_girl' does to root here sans in. Let cut dry for a few days, plant in pure pumice and water after a few weeks. Also water very little. No furtleizer till it starts growing. Next year you can cut off another foot each and reroot.
