Mass plantings of succulents for color contrast

Here's a linked photo of succulents used as mass planting on a slope in the SF East Bay Area. This garden is only a little over a year old in the photo, and has filled in quite nicely. Nothing particularly rare or unusual in the photo, but everything is thriving on this sunny west facing slope over rock. The soil here varies from a few inches deep to about 18 inches deep at this slope. The garden was installed at the beginning of winter, which made it very easy to get thing rooted in from cuttings, but I was also a bit worried about too much rain washing everything off the steep slope. Fortunately the first few months of winter only had moderate rains, and everything took just fine and even the mulch stayed in place.
