Game bird, I hope the late cole crops have time to produce, but don't be surprised if they don't. Our June heat can be brutal and it is one of the reason I grow more cool-season crops in the fall garden than in the spring garden. I did much better with cool-season crops in spring when I lived 80 miles south of here in Fort Worth. Why? Because Fort Worth's zone 8 cold nights warm up so much more quickly there that you can plant cool-season crops in Feb. and Mar. without worrying about a lot of "late" cold nights causing them to bolt. In that part of Texas, the cole crops are normally done by early May. Here, it can be very, very hard to keep early-planted cole crops from freezing/bolting and the ones planted later, after the cold finally warms up a little, have a hard time producing before the summer heat arrives. It is very frustrating. I'm glad everything is in the ground. I know we're all a bit late, but we've had to work with the weather and rainfall we've had. I'm afraid that the rainfall is ending for many of us though. I haven't had to water the crops in the ground, but we've had about 20" of rain since April so our soil moisture is good except for the top 1" of soil which has dried out. I do have to water seedlings as they are transplanted. Here in southern OK, it doesn't matter how much spring rain falls.....when it stops, it stops. So, I'm sure I'll be watering soon enough. I was looking at the calendar just this weekend and thinking it soon would be time to start seeds of the fall tomatoes. LOL My son and husband are so funny. Here is it May and I'm finally through, more or less, with the spring garden, except for some succession planting, and so I sigh and say "I'm done! Finally!" and I am just so relieved. And then they both point out (separately and individually) to me "even when you are done, you're not done, and you'll immediately start more seeds". Oh, they are right! How well they know me. Except for the issues with getting cole crops established in the ground in August, I like fall gardening more than spring gardening. Everyone on this forum who has been able to get the spring garden planted and producing deserves a medal. I noticed several gardeners near me in Love County simply gave up and let their gardens revert back to weeds after the 12" of rain fell and many of them haven't set foot in their gardens since, And a lot of these people are long-time, serious veggie gardeners. It can be easy to get discouraged when the rain/mud/weeds/mosquitoes are winning all the battles, but I was surprised to see these particular people throw in the towel and give up. Dawn

Ack! dlm, I forgot to post back. First, my gray is a Dove Gray (light). In darker areas it's a mid-level, maybe a battleship gray? Charlie's soap powder form, diluted in water, scrubbed, let it sit, scrubbed again, wiped. Probably got it up to 60%. Then I did a different section with diluted Charlie's soap and Oxyclean scrubbed in on top of that. Let sit maybe 20 min, scrubbed, 'rinsed'. Much better. Not 100% like the light Dove gray at outer perimeters of floor, but easily 80 to 85%. Close enough you have to really be staring at it to see the difference. (Can't get a pic to show it well, shadows from vanity are throwing off grout.) So I'll clean it good that way & immediately seal, and I'll be happy. :) If you want to check it out, I don't know how close this is to you, but if I'm downtown & need some CS I get it Be By Baby (Wrigleyville area). Easy metered parking on side street (I always find a spot - a miracle!). Or you can go to CS website, maybe there's a dealer near you. (Not me, it's either downtown or mail.) I also get through Amazon. Free super saver shipping + $11.50 or so is a good price. (Think it's about $14 at Be By Baby). I wasn't impressed with their bottled spot treatment. For the price I just put a scoop (abt 1TB) of powder in a spray bottle, make my own, works just as well.

Gotcha. See, that's the difficulty with "talking" online, or even via text message--nuance is lost. No apology necessary. Judith, You have 13 months of sickness credits built up - but only get paid for 30 days? What kind of hurdles do you have to jump over to be "sick" - for a day or two? Or for a longer period? Often for a longer period you must have a doctor's message. Do you have a co-operative doctor? After all - you have some medical issues, don't you? If you have sick days' credit, that means that you get full pay for a day that you take off sick, doesn't it? By the way - try to get those credit card bills paid off FAST. Store cards usually charge 25 - 28%, and major cards 15 - 18%. If I loaned you $100.00 and required you to pay me $28. per year rent on the money, before one cent of the outstanding balance was retired, you'd call me a real stinker, wouldn't you? And - since most of the stuff we buy on card isn't deductible - you'd have to earn over $40.00 pre-tax in order to have the $28.00 after-tax to pay me the rent on the money. NOT A GOOD DEAL!!!
