Help my mom save her citron

My mom has a 3 yr old potted citron that wind blew over about a week ago. Now there is a crack in the trunk vertically between where the trunk forked off into a 'Y' to branch. The crack goes all the way through the top of the trunk for about 2 inches down. It is above the graft line by another 3 inches or so. So far it doesn't look like the branches are dying.

She is afraid that it will crack more later on as the Y'd branches become heavier with age, more branches, fruit etc. I am at a loss for how to help, does anyone have any ideas?

Is there a way to fix the crack or fill it in with something to prevent it from totally coming apart? I put some coban (self adhering waterproof gauze arond it to kinda pull it together for now), Any advice would be much appreciated
