The one's I know are accurate. And some of the other, I know the parentage, and the colors would be accurate from those parents.

I don't know a lot of the daylilies personally, since I am a relative newbie to the daylily world. If I see a picture, the first thing that I look at is the foliage behind the bloom. If it is relatively real to life color, then I am fairly confident (as much as I can be) that the colors of the blooms are pretty accurate, also. That is just my way of differentiating beween real and doctored photography. If I start seeing blueish or bleached out foliage or yellow, then I assume it has been played with to enhance the bloom color/saturation. Jan G.

I take A LOT of photos every summer. I was actually just telling a friend that every morning I walk the garden, lugging around 2 cameras and my hybridizing supplies.My goal is to take many photos of each cultivar, to showcase how different each looks under different conditions. Some are pretty much unrecognizable under certain circumstances. I decided to share these differences with the public because I think it can be very useful when choosing plants to purchase. Everyone is familiar with the ideal 'hybridizer' look, but it helps to know the different possible looks. No photo is adjusted to make a flower look like something it is not. White balance and lightening adjustments may be made to make it look 'true', especially when dealing with raw files. So Mike ... my long winded answer to the question is yes, those flowers looked like the photos the day they were taken. The exception may be reds and purples, which are very difficult to get right.

I have pictures on Flickr and yes, the colors are correct.
I have found that every picture looks exactly like the real flower in my garden. I don't put pictures on Flickr unless they have the proper color.

I'm glad you are enjoying my photos Edward, thank you. Sharon2, it can get to -20 or even 30C here with the wind chill, or it can be a balmy -3C. This year so far it's been awful - stormy, windy and lots of snow.

I have a question regarding Ghost of Thunder Road. I have seen pictures of this daylily on other sites and it looks blah.
Yours makes it look like a daylily I can't live without.
What's the story on it?

Ghost of Thunder Road: the shots I think you are referring to were taken at dusk, so those white edges were very pronounced. After a day in the sun it was washed out a bit, but that actually made it look better. BTW it passes the white edges and frosted look on to its kids. A more typical look for GOTR would be this one, with the edges less pronounced:

Yes I do ship to the US, not often but I can do it. Phyto fees and inspection are about $15. I usually email my inspector about information to the State in question, but so far it's been very easy. Shipping depends on the State too.

Hmmmm. -30 °C = -22 °F. I think we get a little bit colder than you do, Fairyscape, but we usually get snow that stays, too. Last year was blizzard-central for us, but it's been fairly mild this year.

They don't close school around here unless it gets below -20°F, and they did that a couple of times last year. We're pretty comparable, I think.

I was glad Maximus asked about shipping to the US. I was curious about that, too.

Wow! The daylily 'Soul on Ice' by Curt Hanson sure is a beauty. But can anybody tell me what on earth he means when he says "SOUL ON ICE has one issue, substance abuse... and for this reason, I hesitate to recommend it as a landscape subject."

Is there something I should really KNOW about this plant before I plant it in my yard, or is this just a bunch of jibberish?
