Night-time Temperatures

We're having overnight temps in the low 50's and I don't think its going to get warmer again. Is it ok to take the dahlias in or should I let them die at first frost? This is my first year and I've really enjoyed them, but this morning I see that only Bluesette and Gallery Renoir have blooms and the buds on all the plants are not opening farther. I tagged each plant in case we got a cold snap. (Thanks to whoever had the idea of cutting up a milk jug - I wrote on each tag with a Sharpie and punched a hole and tied it to the base. easy and unobtrusive). It would not be a bad thing to get a jump on clean up. Thanks in advance to the experts out there.

2nd question would be - can I encourage bloom sooner next year so I can enjoy them longer than 2 months? In my sheltered woodsy microclimate the cool air pools in certain areas and it can be degrees cooler at night than 500 feet away. If there is an answer - it has to be an easy one to be workable for me.
