Finally Some (more) Photos...

We've had a nice warm October so far so it has thankfully improved and legthened the dahlia season. I'm having some frustrating photobucket issues - so I apologize if some of these are showing up super large. I'm trying to fix it....

Beautiful pictures, honnat! I really love the color combo in Tahoma Vivian and the richness of the red/maroon in Snoho Monika. And all your plants look so healthy, too! Thanks for sharing your great pics.

The integrifolia stands up straight when it blooms but then flops afterwards. I have now planted more plants around it to support it. Daylilies. It is short only about 18" tall. Alionushka is growing over Hebe 'Red Edge' and in person the flowers are lavender fading to almost white. Armandii is not one of my favorites. I have had trouble getting any kind of lush growth on it. I planted it to fill out a tall trellis to block the neighbor's teenage son from seeing into our hot tub. It grows long and lanky despite repeated prunings. It also sunburns and windburns. I've been trying to get this dang trellis covered with an evergreen vine for ten years. This isn't the first plant I've been discouraged with. We've had more than one neighbor with more than one teenage son. I'm no MILF to draw their attention but it gives me the creeps to try to relax in my tub when a boy is sitting out his window ledge above me smoking.

I am in love with that Keith H. Waterlilly. I have just begun looking at the waterlily blooms - the shapes are so elegant, and the color on that one is beautiful. The J. Kaiser is new for me this year and has probably been my favorite plant this year. It is frustrating when they are so late in the season, especially with the early frosts we are getting this year. But isn't it wonderful to have that intensity of color when every thing else in the yard is beginning to fade?

Jan, Loved browsing through all the new garden pics. Thanks! I am particularly interested in your oak leaf hydrangea. I've been thinking about getting one, but don't know much about them. What type is yours in the pic above? How old is that bush? Any insect problems I should know about? The corner bed I'm thinking of putting it in is shaded by a pine tree. The soil needs a lot of work (the builder dumped a bunch of clay in this one spot), so it will be about a year before I can get it ready. Any tips? Kathy

Beautiful!, My favorite is the Trelyn Rhiannon, I may have to hunt that one down.

And I too am loving the extended season we are having up north. I'm not sure if I have ever had this many Dahlias this late before. As I sit here writing, I can see 13 vases of Dahlias in my house. Looks like we are going to get a real frost next week though. Oh well spring is only 7 months away (isn't that depressing?)
