Need help ID'ing this hummer plant

I don't know what it's called, but the hummers love it. It blooms summer through first killing freeze ... which has happened this week. Not sure if it's going to come back from the roots. The other day when I went out to thaw the birdbaths I noticed what looked like cotton in the stems, but was actually ice. Looks like the stems split open.

The plant has long arching stems topped with clusters of small red blooms.

No, but that's cool! I finally tracked it down. It's Red Rocket Russelia. (Russelia sarmentosa)

Wow, that was a quick reply! Looks like it may be Smilax ecirrhata, it is native to Michigan. Thanks jaynine for your help.
