Fungus gnats are merely nuisance pests. But a pain inside when proliferating - you must break their life cycle to defeat them. The 7-year old brought a dang pumpkin home from school (!) along with fungus gnats, just after we eradicated them...sigh. A lot of work. Nonetheless, you have a sucking insect issue, maybe whiteflies, maybe something else, scan the leaves closely with magnification to find perhaps mites. That pepper has a soil problem, not able to tell if too wet or too dry, but lack of yellowing leans toward too dry, in addition to the sucking insect. Critter at first guess was maybe minute pirate bug/~ family, but not sure that's right & Hemiptera always give me trouble. Surely rhizo can pick me up if she is reading my replies these days. One thing I note when we grow lettuce and greens in winter inside, is that the windows block UV light and any soil fungi present (even after sterilizing , so maybe on seed) proliferate wildly and hard to bring lettuce to head or maturity because the fungi win. Kid likes the garden inside in winter so we do it, but not easy at all for two parents with hort degrees.

I feel for you! I've been fighting the battle against white fly and aphids which arrived along with the heat wave. It attacked my moonflowers, nasturtiums and basil. Eventually all the nasturtium plants but one have been thrown out. The basil I'd planted looks much like yours and I have more ready to go in but am delaying until this is under control. I don't know what anyone else would suggest but if it helps I'll share but I've done: I used small amount of mild soap and water in spray container and sprayed undersides of leaves too. Next I put out a dish of cider vinegar with a bit of dish soap and mixed it, covered with saran wrap and poke a few holes in top - that way flies get in but can't get out. I put the dish in the middle of the container pot where I'd noticed the flies in the soil. So far got a couple and haven't seen others - doesn't mean they're gone - just haven't seen the critters. This year I couldn't get to a garden centre where they had ladybugs but YES!! By far in my experience, the best natural pest control. If I'd had that remedy I wouldn't have done quite as much tossing out. The one plant I'm really worried about is the rose (I have only one). I planted garlic in with it and in the moonflowers & of course it will take some time to grow but I'm hoping the scent will put off the bugs. A friend gave me some of her chives - also another good companion plant. Hope you can get the upper hand.

I have had some come back even after i did all that. Two of them im going to just throw out. They are separated from the rest of my plants. Some of the plants had very healthy looking roots and you could see the cottony masses in the rootball and some of the larger root meallie bugs, but some of the plants had roots systems that were completely stripped. There were just strings for roots. Its really amazing none of the plants died. Using the outside water hose with high pressure is a good way to get the old soil off and maybe even some of there eggs. Once repotted, i would recommend watering the newly planted hoya with the bayer maybe every 10 days for a month just to be safe. Those buggers have a way of getting around!

Sammers I too am very sorry!! But not all hope is lost! Is it too early to leave them outside now Sammers? When I was once in the dark about getting rid of scale, I am talking a HUGE mass of them all over my Ponderosa Lemon and Olive Tree, I used what Tom suggested and what Gardengal suggested all at once..Let me tell you when I say I got completely rid of them in just a month spraying once a week. I brought mine outside and spray and watered them in. I have never seen them since. Try both! When you get them outside, spray every tree down with the 'All Seasons Dormant oil and then water them all in with the Bayer. That did the trick for mine for sure!
