It can take anywhere from 3 to 15 years or more for a seedling tree to produce fruit. Satsumas are polyembryonic, and will produce at least one clone seedling that will be a clone of the mother tree (i.e., "true to seed"). Time to produce varies widely by cultivar and growing conditions. Patty S.

How interesting that you bring this up now. I have one satsuma and it had a heavy crop last year and it bloomed this Spring. I noticed an aphid infestation on it while it was blooming and got rid of them, but lost all the blooms in the process. It hasn't bloomed again and no fruits. I just bought another satsuma yesterday and it has no blooms on it either, so maybe I still won't get any oranges. But if it's that alternate year thing, next year should be a blowout! My dad used to talk about growing satsuma oranges when he was a boy. His father had orchards down around Beaumont. I sure wish he was here so I could ask him about it. I'll bet he knew and just never thought to mention it. Cheryl

When I purchased it from them in the past they didn't have it on the website. I sent them an email and requested it specifically. I actually think they propagate a lot of varieties that are not on the website, however they don't produce enough of them for mass distribution. For instance, I know they propagate the fremont mandarin, but you can only get it by special ordering it through local nurseries. I think the inverted T-graft just means the top of the T is at the bottom of the vertical incision, so basically the same thing. Good luck. -Brett

Amazing my dear friend..I have never allowed mine to do that and some day I will) I can't believe how much fruit . Seriously, I'm taken back. You are such a help to anyone here who wants to do the same)))) As for the fruit, just take them and put them in a basket and let them ripen in the dark...What's strange is that sometimes they are already ripened without being orange, so make sure they are not already ripe.
