I wanted to expand this question into 2 questions. i just got home, and I noticed my leaves are changing to yellow rather quickly and based on pictures I have viewed both here and on other searches, it looks like nitrogen issues. That then suggests again, PH issues. S, then, are my lemons doomed, or since the leaves are changing rather rapidly, can I still possible save the plant. the leaves are small near the trunk, and I think older. they are light green to yellow, with the yellow looking grainy(i dont mean leaving grains on th eleaves, I mean bad color job.) The veins are a bit yellower, or at least no greener than the yellow. Only one has fallen, and all of the newer leaves farther from teh trunk are huge and dark green and almost stand up rather than droop in any way. Suggestions for possible fix? I amthinking nitrgen deficiancy due to what I read here, but I found on a previous post a discussion of proper balancing of the soil.

Storm, sounds like your plant is suffering from overwatering and lack of nitrogen. Do you have a high nitrgen fertilizer handy? Or Azalia food?
Your soil is possibly too heavy, therefore you need to add other mediums with the soil you're now using.
Why do you feel you need to repot? Is the plant rootbound? I can't imagine it being potbound if the soil is remaining wet.
Normally when a plant is stressed, repotting will only make it worse..transplant shock..
If it's a mineral definciency, usually the veins turn deep green. Adding a supplimental iron will not harm the plant..This should be done 2-3 times a year anyway.
There's one other thing that troubles me when you described color of leaves..Have you checked for Spider Mites? Inspect underside of leaves, stems..look for fine webbing. This is just a precaution, hope I'm wrong.
If you decide to repot, add perlite and sand to your soil..If you want to add orchid mix, do so. And be extremely careful when removing plant..
Also, does the container have drainage holes?
I'd remove yellow leaves, hose down without wetting soil. Toni

I don't see evidence of spider mites, but I did have abit of an ant infestation while the flowers still had petals, now that I have lots of tiny lemons, the ants have disappeared and I did do some hosing when they were there to get rid of them. My only reason for re-potting(Maybe that's the wrong word, I intended to gently remove the tree, and then mix the soil with orchid mix, then repot the tree back into the same pot) is that from what I have been reading, potting soil was not a good choice, and I thought I might put it in a better medium. I have several drainage holes in the pot. I even make sure the soil stays loose by just using my hand to till it a bit. But, one I get down to the roots I don't do too much so I dont bother the roots. Perhaps I shall wait. I do have and use azelea fertilizer, I gave it some today as the soil was pretty dry all the way down to the roots. I will double check for mites, I see no little webs, just one or two big ones with a 1/2" spider.

This tree was very healthy up until now and with so many little lemons, I don't want to do more harm than good.

My fertilizer is just the typical blue azelea fertilizer from MG. Should I try to special order a better one?

Storm, as much as I dislike spiders, I guess they're helpful ridding plant pests. Still...........eeeek..lol

When you water your plant, does water settle on top or drain in minutes? If it's draining well, there's no need repotting or whatever it's called.. (S) ..On the other hand, if water settles on top, remains, then perhaps adding orchid mix will help.
Since your tree is blooming, do you really want to risk losing fruit/flowers? It's bad enough bringing indoors from a summer outside to a dry, stuffy house.
Storm, we all grow our citrus differently. In winter, I do not fertilize..Oh btw, the Azalia food you have is fine.
I am going to add a little Osmocote and spray leaves with Fish Emulsion as a last feeding of the yr. (the owner of one citrus nursery told me they use FE as an insecticide) Since the days are getting shorter I feel there's no need to feed. (In climates like ours)

Ants usually attack a tree that has scale bug, but then again, they might like the scent of flowers and find it a pleasant place to reside. Still, it never hurts to do a monthly inspection.

Some people in cold climates feed yr round..this is of course, up to you.
If you feel your soil is well-draining, then it'd might be best to wait till spring/summer to repot..I spent two days repotting all my citrus this summer, I use all purpose, sand, peat, perlite..2 days!! LOL..I also found the perfect citrus pots at treequest..black, plastic, tall, narrow containers.

I think I will wait to supplement the soil, the water does not really sit on top for more than 3 or 4 seconds, and that's if I really water it fast. I just realized I may have under fed it. I have a big watering can that holds more water than I thought, so my fertilizer may have been to dilute. I just fed it and hopefully it will stop yellowing. Those little lemons are getting bigger in a hurry! Despite the color of the some of the leaves, this little tree is aggressive. I will watch for scale, I see no fuzzy white things yet.
