fertilzer for citrus

I have been searching for weeks and can not find anyone who specializes in citrus that can tell me what is the best citrus fertilzer to use and if I need to use anything else along with that ferlizer...Does one fertilzer do all...Who sells it and where can I buy a special blend specifically for citrus since I live in New England and there is none here.

I am willing to pay shipping if there is anyone out there can tell me where I can buy the best citrus fertilzer..I am sure that citrus growers are using a secret since all there citrus that gets shipped to our erea is so healthy and green and loaded with flowers.

The "best" is pretty subjective. It also depends upon your soil and location. I like the EB Stone organics Cirtus Fertilizer for very small trees. The EB Stone becomes cost prohibitive when the trees becomes larger. Given that you live in New England your tree probably isn't that big, so cost shouldn't be too much of a problem, unless you have a large greenhouse. If you have a large tree let me know and I can give you some commercial fertilizers that work well.

Fly larva, maggots, need a very moist environment to hatch, live, and grow and the presence of maggots in your compost pile indicates it is too wet. The moisture level of compost should be no more than a well wrung out sponge, which will feel dry rather than wet.

Jerry, once I get home and can open my pics again, I will definately tell you where I got it... Thanks for your nice comments!:-) I am so glad you can grow at least a couple of your favorite plants. Sweet. One good thing to it, you only have to focus on a couple instead of dozens...lol. They are like kids to me. So tempermental, yet you love them to death! Let me tell you Frank, for what you are using to heat yours up, that is great! I use a couple of heaters which to me is cheating a little.. I can't wait to get home and see your setup. You probably have a much lower electric bill than I do, and you are still making it work..Bravo Do you have to open yours a bit to when the sun is out all day to let heat escape? The other benefit to our popups is that, it is always humid in there....:-) I wish there was enough room in there for me to sleep at night, so I can get rid of this nasty cold from the dry air..!lol

In addition to what Dori said: It's possible to take a long list of ingredients like yours which would otherwise appear to be perfectly fine on a "stand alone" basis (though you have some I wouldn't use - namely the sand and shavings), and combine them to produce an unusable soil. I too, embrace the KISS method when it comes to building soils & use as few ingredients as it takes to properly do the job. Also, there is practically no difference in the water holding capacity or the water release curve between coir and peat. Coir does compact easier/more quickly than peat, and it has a higher pH - something I would probably consider a disadvantage for citrus - and you need to watch for the possibility of a high soluble salts content in coir. Applying fertilizer out to the drip line sounds right, but it might be better to decide why the tree is dying. When somebody goes to a doctor and is very sick, the doctor doesn't recommend food. He tries to diagnose what is making the patient sick. Food doesn't cure illness. A tree expert might be able to give the advice she needs, if the tree is worth the money for the consultation.

I've had good luck so far with osmocote. Maybe in a year our two I won't be so happy, but I have two plants that look and are producing well for the last two seasons.

I've had great success with Lutz tablets for my containerized citrus. Once a year application is simple enough for me.

Thank you to everyone for their input.....I will try these out since I have always only believed in ORGANIC and FISH emulsion and these are not doing anygood for my citrus since the requirements for them to thrive are much higher in nutrition than non synthetic can offer..Here we go..I hope Miricle GROw or Dyno grow or any of these help me ..Thanks again
