Glenda, if you do go back, I'm sure the vendor would want to know about the problems with the produce. And I would hope that he/she would make things right with you. I don't know anything about growing turnips, but I suppose that, like radishes, you don't know what you have until you open it up.

The lettuce toughness is strange, isn't it? Was it bitter too, or just tough?

You would think he would get enough feed back from others. He is on our local KYTV news every Wednesday talking about gardening and what he has for sale. He is probably the largest market gardener in the city.

He did have the most wonderful winter squashes and gourds. I think he must have grown every variety available. He likes Jarrahdale for pumpkins better than my L.I. Cheese. Now I have to try that one!

......and Indian Corn. Beautiful colors.

Do you grow any of the ornamentals for fall sales? He had the corn tied in bundles of 3 ears. Don't know the price.
That is another pet peeve of mine, no prices on anything!
That means if you are out on the lot looking at bins of things, you have to go find someone to get the price. Maybe I am just cheap and others don't care about the prices.

Not cheap - that drives me crazy, too. For that kind of marketing, you need lots of people to answer questions - how hard is it to make a sign??

Oh, if he's that big a seller, I guess I wouldn't worry about him.

Our market usually peters out in early October, so I don't grow much for late fall use - just a few pumpkins that I sell to folks that want to get them early.

I hear you about showing no prices. There is a girl that sells lots of strawberries at our market. She was next to me one day and everyone that stopped had to ask the price. After an hour or two, it began to wear on me. All it would take is one little sign. Other vendors do the same thing. Maybe there's a school of thought somewhere that holds the belief that not posting prices will force the customers to engage in conversation, which will lead to more sales. I always have price tags on all my stuff, 'cuz, like you, that's what I want to see when I shop.

Jarrahdale? I'll have to look that one up.
