Is thinning of a Meyer's set fruit necessary?

I have a containerized Meyer that has bloomed for the first time this season. The first flush of blooming did not achieve pollination, but a second flush looks to have 100% success. I am wondering if this is going to be too heavy of a fruit load for the tree's resources. I am familiar with other fruit trees thinning their own fruits, such as a "June drop" with apple, but I have no experience with Citrus. My question is can I expect the tree to thin itself or will I need to do it?
