I just bought a 5 gallon Golden Nugget Mandarin at a close out sale at a local nursery. When I got it home, I noticed that it had huge thorns -- up to 3" long!
There is a previous post on the Gardenweb that said that Golden Nugget should be thornless and that the thorny branches must be rootstock. Can anyone confirm that Golden Nugget is indeed supposed to be thornless? I looked carefully at each of the branches; they all have thorns, although the thorns on the upper branches are only about 1/2" long.
Because of the sale, there are no returns; however, if I did get just rootstock, I will make a fuss and try to get them to take it back. Thanks for your help.
