Kalanchoe luciae blooming?

I've had these guys for about a year. There are plenty of offsets around the plants. They are pretty green now after the summer rains, but are showing signs of turning red again. I had no idea these could grow so tall. Foolish me, no research before planting! They are a tad closer to each other than I would do next time.

The tallest one is 2 foot tall. I am wondering if it is headed toward blooming. I will post a close up.

There are little plantlets growing on the stem. I thought that happened after blooming. Can it occur at any time?

I'm excited to think it may bloom this winter. I love watching the process.

Looks like blooms forming. Many Kalanchoes bloom in the winter, and many Crassulas too. The former have really pretty flowers, many of the latter have stinky flowers.

Rose, Hello and Welcome, K. thyrsiflora/Flapjack is one difficult succulent. Leaves require a lot of sun to keep color. In lower light, plant will thrive, but reverts to green. Kalanchoe is a succulent, that grows 1-2' tall and wide. They recommended fertilizing every two-weeks from Apr-Aug using half-strength fertilizer. Soil needs to be well-draining, kept dryer during winter months. Flapjack flowers... The bad news..After flowering, Flapjack begings to die. Good news...seeds can be used for propagation. I can't grow K flapjack, so I stopped trying, hopefully, you'll have better luck. Very nice plant...why would they want to toss it? Toni

Is this kalanchoe thyrsiflora, or kalanchoe luciae or a cotyledon

Almost certainly luciae since they are far more common than thyrsiflora. There is a longstanding naming problem with these two. They are usually labeled thyrsiflora (yellow flowers), but when they bloom they turn out to be luciae (white flowers). Until they flower they are difficult to tell apart. :-(

Wow - I just uprooted one of my K. luciae that had bloomed and the inflorescence was spent/lopped off about 6 weeks ago. The babies were crammed around the inflorescence stem and it was time to separate them. I got 3 big babies off of the stem. They are rooting in small pots. I planted 6 big pups with great root systems in the ground on my island. I have 10 small pups with roots in pots to grow a little bigger. That's a lot more pups than I expected to get from one plant! And I have 2 more to separate! Ooh - now I have a new idea for my back garden area!

Aloebot, the bromeliad in the back is Portea Petropolitana Extensa, from Brazil, and it can handle a lot of light. Here it is in the back yard (photo from June) with the epiphyllum in the photo, blooming at its normal timeThis bromeliad grows and blooms profusely, so much so that it is now in several parts of my yards, and I am having to throw out some of the extra plants. They get to be six feet tall and are not suited for indoors, as they are huge plants. The ones in this photo are offshoots from the original plant I got.

How hardy are these? I live in Zone 7; saved these succulents from being thrown away at a wedding. (My nephew had a wedding and his bride had succulents in the bouquets - so beautiful!) Since they were going to throw them away, I salvaged what I could and am trying to root it.) Something else to bring inside for the winter?
