Since the feds are watching what is being sold on e bay I guess that means the canker war is not quite over yet.

Does anyone know if someone is DILIGENTLY trying to find a cure for this disease?

I have seven citrus trees and they are just now starting to give me fruit. I know that I am never going near Florida til they find a cure for this, cause they are not taking my trees.

Just thought I would ask.

I don't know if they are looking for a "cure". Isn't this a viral infection? You might send an email to the Univ. of Florida or Florida A&M agriculture schools to ask. Now the last I heard is ag officials are cutting down ALL citrus yard trees within a circle 6/10th mile across or 1/3 mile radius when an infected tree is found. It is also my understanding they have a different set of less stringent rules for commercial citrus groves. Once again special interest wins out and the avergae Joe takes a beating.

yes there is a cure for canker
its a mixture of a few common items
any master garderner can tel you
we have treated many trees and gotten completely rid of it
even the dept of agriculture knows about it
(the guy that comes to do our export inspections says he cant believe they've done all the damage to individuals trees here in south FL)
Luckilly most of the homeowners here have sy=ued and been compensated bringing an end to the citrus ban here in FL

Ooh, I read that post on the perennials forum, and it bothered me a lot too. I've spent a bit of time contemplating how the forums each have their own personality. On the perennials forum, there was also a post where people were being attacked for buying plants from big-box stores. So, I don't think of the perennials forum as being particularly friendly. There's a forum where one of the best experts likes to be the first to post, in order to chide people that they should have used the FAQs and Search before posting, or that they posted in the wrong forum. That got me to where I'd spend 2 hours researching a question (and not finding the answer) before I'd ever post. People shouldn't have to do that! I once wanted to console a newbie after she was very rudely "corrected" on a normally friendly forum, but her email wasn't set up. Luckily she didn't quit GW like I would have after that remark (if I'd been new), so she saw the nicer postings that followed. PS: Wintersowing has to be one of the friendliest forums on GW, although I haven't been to them all. A lot of discussion is gardening-related but not directly WS-related, so anyone should stop by and see if they like the group.

In the attached link you can view a picture of the bark with a mottled red and green appearance (whatever the plants have looks a little different from plant to plant . . . perhaps different stages of disease). Screams 1980's with the gray cabinets and those white pulls. My first thought also was cubicle, but if those are cabinets as the BS, not such a bad idea or use of space...they just couldnt be too deep because reaching over the counter could be a challenge, especially for shorties like me....

Still laughing. I don’t have googley eye stuff but I do have a set in the MB that is to be touch by no one! as you can see, fabric insert is dated but on my to update list. i used to have fancy, never to be touched towels in powder room and finally went with fancy paper towels. Those do get used, though I pray nobody tosses them in the toilet, b/c they’re not septic friendly. No problems yet.

I did a lot of web searching on citrus canker and did not run into a cure. Can you give a few details? I did read that the copper sprays can mitigate some of the damage to the fruit, if properly applied, but, the problem would come back.
I would like to be prepared if it hits my trees. Thanks a lot.
