My opinionated friends, come give some input on selections

About a year ago I posted list of potential conifers for my yard- all of which were deemed generic and I was told, in the blunt fashion I've come to appreciate here, to get some creativity. It was then I knew that I didn't know nearly enough about conifers. So I've spent the last year learning and you've all introduced me to some very interesting plants indeed. No wonder my suggestion of a 'Vanderwolf's Pyramid' Pine was widely poo pooed.

I've still got a lot to learn but I think I've come up with a better list with A LOT more conifers on it than I originally planned- you folks have really gotten me hooked! It's probably still not the most creative list but I tried to blend creative with 'possible to obtain locally or have brought in'. I'm going to try a couple that are a little touchy simply because I can get everything at wholesale cost so I guess I can afford to take a few chances (Japanese Umbrella Pine).

Is this list a reasonable mix of foliage, forms, and texture? What am I missing that is a 'must have'?

Potential Conifer Selections:

Trees:

Cedrus deodara ÂAurea or ÂWellÂs Roman GoldÂ

Larix decidua ÂVaried DirectionsÂ

Picea abies ÂPendulaÂ

Picea omorika ÂPendula BrunsÂ

Picea orientalis ÂSkylandsÂ

Picea pungens ÂHoopsii (2 of these I think flanking the golden cedar)

Pinus contorta ÂChief JosephÂ

Pinus sylvestris glauca nana 'Well's Royal Scot'

Sciadopitys verticillata 'Joe Kozey'

Small tree/ shrub :

Abies koreana 'Silberperle'

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Lemon Twist'

Chamaecyparis pisifera 'True Blue'

Chamaecyparis pisifera 'White Pygmy'

Juniperus communis 'Gold Cone'

Picea omorika 'Pimoko'

Picea orientalis 'Tom Thumb'

Picea pungens 'St. Mary's Broom'

Pinus mugo 'Slowmound'

Pinus strobus 'Blue Shag'

Pinus strobus 'Greg' (my husband's name- gotta have that one)

Pinus strobus 'Sea Urchin'

I'll probably also use the following to fill in spots:

Juniperous horizontalis 'Icee Blue'

Juiperous horizontalis 'Motherlode;'

Juniperous virginiana 'Prarie Pillar'
