Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, especially to our dear ThinMan who contributes so much to this forum.

What are you all doing today? It happens to be my mom's 80th birthday so we are having a big family bash and barbeque this afternoon on my sister's farm. (in between the raindrops!)

My daughter is here visiting from Ohio, so it's an extra special day for me!

Thank you, Patti, for your Father's Day wishes. How nice of you to think of me!

DW showed me my older daughter's blog this morning, where she did a sweet mention of yours truly. It made my little old heart swell a bit and gave me a tiny sting in my eyes.

How cool that your daughter is visiting and I hope you all have a great barbeque today. Happy Birthday to your mom. You are lucky to still have her. If it will help, I would be happy to bring your rain up here for the day. We can use it!

Same to you, nomen. Enjoy the day! Looks like your plants are in the grill...lol! Or, are you referring to the weather? Maybe not for you, but the southwest will be suffering extreme heat. Definitely will be a cookout. My succulents have been moved into dappled shade with temps over 100 forecasted. Wouldn't want any to "cook!"

Our DGS is leaving for his first time at camp today -- DS driving him and another boy. We had dinner with DS and family last evening. Very nice, with four fathers present. (Big difference between DS's generation of fathering and their elders' more hands-off roles. Certainly better all around now!)

My father had a farmer's heart and loved to grow things. He planted and maintained a rose garden for my mother for over 40 years. He is the one who taught me about hybrid tead and I miss him very much! He died in 2007, and never saw me making mu rose garden. I feel his presence when I am working in my roses now, especially if I am doing something not the way he showed me. Happy Father's Day! I miss you! .

I hear ya Marilyn, I miss my dad too, especially his laugh. He passed in 1977. This is us at a bbq on either Mother or Father's day 1968, I don't remember which. I'm the one saluting the photographer.

A special Happy Birthday to your Mother, Patti. Enjoy her while you can!

We are having DH's folks out for dinner in honor of Father's Day. His mother is 91 and still driving and going strong. His step Dad can't drive anymore, but still up and about.
