deformed bloom

Somehow a brug managed to bloom in the garage. It's been in the dark without water for about a month so I was really surprised to see a flower, albeit a small deformed one. lol My vulc and culebra are doing ok inside. I was afraid the greenhouses were just a bit too cold. They dropped quite a bit of foliage as soon as I brought them in but that seems to have stopped and they are putting out some new growth now. Snowbank has also started to grow again. I had to strip all the foliage because of aphids.

My 'Culebra' did the same thing! Dropped ALL leaves & is finally starting new ones! :) Yours looks great!

Our Culebras look like twins! lol Mine didn't drop all it's foliage but about a third. I'm hesitant to keep them in the GH even though they seemed to be doing well because I'm allowing the temps to drop to the high 30's at night. I'd rather the foliage drop then the stems die back from cold damage.

I have no idea what that brug is. It's a pink single but it's so stunted from being in the dark and cold with no water. The bloom is close to normal length but it only opened about 2.5" across.

My Adora did exactly the same thing with several of her blooms. I'm hoping her next flush will be better, but she doesn't appear to be in any hurry to bloom again!! On the other hand, Santa Rosa has 3-4 blooms just about every 3-4 weeks! This is a quiet little Brug, but she just keeps on struttin' her stuff! Thanks again to tommysmom for sharing it with me. Karyn, I have several brugs with the same problems this year. I just looked at a couple of mine that I was waiting to open and there isn't a normal bloom on them. I'm hoping, too, that it's just the weather and later this fall things will improve. Size of the brug doesn't seem to be the problem in my yard because I have several that are as large or larger, such as Charles Grimaldi, and they seem to be developing fine. CG is a trooper no matter what the conditions.

I don't know what it is with the NOL. Maybe because it's still fairly small. It's put out about 15 blooms and all have been deformed and not just a little bit. Their fragrance is wonderful though. I use mainly Dyna-Gro products (fertilizers and Pro-tekt) but do use some other brands. I buy most of my supplies at a hydroponics store. I also use kelp extract and the Spray n Grow trio along with Cal-Mag Plus and Thrive Alive w/B1 and Superthrive. Not all of this is given at once! lol It depends on the condition of the plants and the time of the year. Most everything that will be going dormant stops being fed about 4 weeks before dormancy. I've heard that Miloganite is great but I just can't use it. The thought of spreading human waste, no matter how processed, just grosses me out. lol

Every flower on that one branch is deformed to some degree. It's not really a deformity the petals just don't open. There's been 5 more blooms on that branch, all weird. The other branches on the same plant have perfectly normal blooms. I wonder what is causing it. The branches and foliage look fine. Here's another deformed flower. Karyn

Oh I love your snowbank. Thanks Karyn for posting a pic. I dont care if they are slow growers. I looked up miners brug it is also pretty. I am still stuck on eddies variegated one. Spring time though....For sure

PS I got 24 containers winter sowed today. Yippee yahoo that is 4 differnet flowers in each milkjug. I use coffee cups stryofoam.....I feel like I got something done...LOL

Hope you don't mind if I join in here instead of starting a new post. I just love this time of year to see what these do or how they change their minds and do as they please.

#1 Sang has just 'Y' (Possible vulc?)
#2 Our Mom Sang took off like crazy already 2 foot taller
than what it was when put in the brug house, she is 2 years old and no signs of a 'Y'
#3 & 6 cuttings off our mom plant.
#4 Sport off B. TNN's reverse variegated above the 'y'
#5,7 & 8 B. Amarillo Paja, I had never noticed that it was that ruffled before?

Karyn it looks like that all the important things are doing well for you. You go through so much all year and always end up with better looking stuff as we do rofl.

Mike soon your growing room will be to small. Man they are growing all right lol
