Deformed MM bloom

I thoght one of the buds on my MM was kind of oddly shaped, and today it startrd coming out of the calyx. I thought this bud was younger than the other one but it must have been older and just stuck in the calyx because it was already showing some pink color. I peeled back the calyx and let the flower come out but it is all crinkled up and I ripped it a little :( Has this ever happened to anyone, a bloom getting stuck? I wonder if it will shapen up since I helped it out.

That's not uncommon and I think it's weather/temp related. I had a majority of deformed blooms with some flushes last summer. Many were split and/or crinkled. I wouldn't worry about it.

lmao, with the pic sideways like that the 2nd pic looks like some kinda alien creature sticking out it's tongue.

Hope the rest of your blooms come out well. The same thing is happening with some of my asiatic lilies right now. It's never happened to me before.

If it's not a pest problem, light, or water problem, and the roots are healthy, it's probably genetic. Last year some of the flowers on my Gerbera were also deformed. Billy Rae

I agree that it is the heat doing the pink one in as far as the second skirt not dropping. The triple white, has it ever dropped it's skirts in the cooler weather Karyn? My Shawnee's Legacy double is throwing unusually shaped blooms at the moment and I attribute it solely to the heat while forming and preventing the throat of the first one to remain open long enough to allow the second bloom to come down. This is the first time it has ever done this but it is the hottest it has ever been here too.

Karyn Gotcha!! That makes sense but I've seen more than a few brugs that the inner skirts just barely show. My Double White is like that. ya have to look to see if it a double or a single. I personally don't like the inner skirts to drop down too far, unless they are proportioned well. I think that Double Peach pulls this off for such a huge blossom. Others like look awkward to me, altho I can't come up with a named example right now- I'm thinking of a white one like that, that's all long and skinny, and I believe a triple. Name eludes me! Hope you don't mind if I join in here instead of starting a new post. I just love this time of year to see what these do or how they change their minds and do as they please. It might straighten up. I had one last year I had to open the bottom to help it out and it did but it was a single.

My Adora did exactly the same thing with several of her blooms. I'm hoping her next flush will be better, but she doesn't appear to be in any hurry to bloom again!! On the other hand, Santa Rosa has 3-4 blooms just about every 3-4 weeks! This is a quiet little Brug, but she just keeps on struttin' her stuff! Thanks again to tommysmom for sharing it with me. I wish my Santa Rosa would bloom already. Dave in VA sent me a cutting a year ago. I didn't get blooms last year and nothing yet this year. The plant's growing well enough, just no flowers. I saw pics of the plant this cutting came from and it was such a pretty pink.

Gloria, post some pictures. I don't have Adora, but believe I have a Santa Rose although too small to bloom this year.

I know. I keep promising to learn how to do pictures. I don't even know how to get them from the camera to the computer!!!Need a teengager in the house, I think! I'm so da**ed 19th century!!!
Karyn: Took a looong time for S. Rosa to start blooming, but it's a lovely Brug (I luv the pinks, anyway)

Miss B Havin had alot of deformed blooms when the heat got up... as soon as it cooled off she was fine..
Karyn my Santa Rosa was from a rooted cutting and didn't bloom till mid summer but once it started it didn't stop!
