Not really, but I thought a music flashback would be nice for the older crowd. heh

In the following photo, I like the way the droplet on the left turned out -- reminds me of a cat's or snake's eye.

Love the rain effect! Nice coloring!

I'm thankful I still have sun right now. It's going to get down to 32 degrees on Wednesday so I need to finish preparing my plants to bring in. OMG! Where am I going to put them all? I'm also thankful that I have more time to spend with them this fall.

Hi Moni! You have my sympathy. Whenever we visited DH's family in Pennsylvania, I never took the right clothing and was always freezing cold, even in July. More rain didn't fall, but it stayed cool, cloudy and misty. There's a tornado watch to our southwest, so I guess if that storm develops further and moves our way, we still might get a little more rain. We were in Dallas most of the day and drove home through a lot of rain but that rain stopped before we reached the Red River. Caroline, The maple is gorgeous. You have better color there than we have here this year. I hope the rain helped your pastures and ponds. Our pastures are still so dry and our ponds remain empty but eventually enough rain has to fall to start refilling them. A neighbor of ours who has a spring-fed pond says it is the lowest she has seen it in the 15 years or so that she's owned the place, and worries her spring may be on the verge of drying up. Lisa, I bet the rain was wonderful for the flowers you planted. Almost all my stuff froze on the night we went down to 25 degrees a couple of weeks ago, but the brugmansias in containers are still blooming. One of them, and I think it is Lemonade Twist, has 6 or 8 flowers open right now and another couple of dozen about to open. I am going to have to carry it inside before the weekend freeze, but it has handled a lot of cold weather already. We didn't get a lot more rain, but also didn't have any grassfires today....which is a change. I think there were grassfires every day last week. Of course, the dormant grasses will dry out quickly unless it rains again soon. Still, any rain is a good thing and this rain was a fairly slow soaking rain so the ground is not quite hard-as-a-rock now. Dawn

We closed down our big koi pond a few years ago, actually something ate all the inhabitants and I could not go thru that again, and tho drained it would end up with a foot or so of water in it. We had a bunch of bullfrogs in it so we decided to get them out today so we can break down the pond. We pumped it out and there were only a few frogs in it....then we found out why. There was a snapping turtle in it! I don't know how he got in there, the pond has 2 foot high sides and this guy was only 5-6 inches across. Anyway, we captured him and then drove him down to the reservoir behind the house.

I LOVE rain...any time of year and I happen to like that song also :o)

Wow Paul...gorgeous color! How'd you do it? light on watering, very low temps, no fertilizer...bribery? Really, its just beautiful!!

I, too, would like a bit of rain...with the warm weather here, I've had to continue watering the yard, garden, and all the containers.

I don't do anything special, Nancy. It has been outside this whole time starting around the end of May. You can't tell from the photo, but there is some moss growing on the soil so it hasn't been that dry. That and we've had a fair amount of rain lately. Temps, however, have been bouncing up and down from day to day, week to week. Night temps in the 40s have been fairly common some weeks recently. Fertilizer wise, I honestly don't know when it last got any. I'm really bad about forgetting to fertilize my plants. So just what does the trick ...

I have absolutely no idea if this one is actually a compact or not, Josh. I honestly don't even remember with any certainty from whence it came .... though I think it was a cutting off Howard's huge jade. It doesn't put on a lot of growth for me (which is fine by me). But considering that it is in a small bonsai pot, and that I don't fertilize much if at all, and the fact that I pretty much leave it to fend for itself over the summer ... it really isn't too surprising that growth is fairly minimal for me.

It has that compact look, and the coloration is very intense for a standard red-margined Jade. (Do you have a standard Jade with which to compare?) I hear you about the fertilization...I've been awful at feeding my Jades :-(
