My son just sent us money to go to the Outback Steakhouse tonight for dinner! What a sweetheart he is! First time in a long time that we're doing anything on New Years' eve. So we'll have a wonderful time, and I hope you all will too- enjoying time with loved ones and staying safe!

Caren, Happy Birthday to your dad! It was also one of my very best friend's birthday; we will get together soon to celebrate. Not 73, but getting closer, 65! I had a fantastic lunch with a couple of friends, and later a great time at Benihana's for dinner. Afterwards we all went to my dd's for cake and presents. All the presents were wonderful, but the very best was a bareroot Lady Apple tree that I had been wanting, yay!!!! Amazing how simple things make me happy :-) Here's a few pictures:

The oleander is the variety they sell at WalMart on clearance when it has a touch of scale and is potbund. I realized today that technically I protected the oleander because I sprayed it with Wilt-Pruf late last month. I'd like to hit it again before it turns cold again. I killed a gloriosa last year with no protection or special siting. It was buried under snow and ice for upwards of 3 months. This one hasn't had snow on it for more than a day because all of the snow on the ground is melted around it. We only had 7" of snow in December, it will be gone tomorrow, but it's been consistently cold, 10 straight and then 12 straight days below freezing with a monthly low of 8. Could've been worse.

For awhile we thought we were going to be able to get CTV here in the northern tier of the US as we are so close to Canada and get so many Canadians coming down--but I don't know what happened. I guess the the Americans companies got their feelings hurt and stopped it. Too bad, I like alot of the the CTV programs especially the news.

Happy New Year to you, too! To take more pictures. There really is something to having an annual video diary of the garden. The Juniperus scopulorum I planted as 6 inch seedlings in 09 are now 5 - 6 feet tall. I have an apricot I planted as a 2 ft whip 2 years ago that's now approaching 8 ft. These are wins I should celebrate more! Last night I downloaded a couple of maps of champion tree tours in nearby towns. I plan to visit them over time. I'm hoping that will help me learn to work smarter, not harder by choosing trees that will grow here. And yes, worry less! I think that's on my list every year. Barb

My New Year has started off Great, I got too spend time with the Grands, then I started too clean out clutter, my
Kitchen, Basement & Living room looks so much better
some of my Brugs had too be thrown out,some of them dried all the way down too the roots, but with them not taking up
space, now I can get too all of the others too water, some have started coming too like with big green leaves without any pest on them, I hope everyone's Brugs are doing well
