Update on my Green Giant Thuja with the double lead that I broke up. I was AMAZED that with so few roots the two big ones survived just fine and so did the wee branch like smaller tree. With so few roots between the three of the I was sure I would lose some, but all three are doing perfectly! The top photo shows the wee 1 foot branch that had a few roots. Hard to see but right in the middle of the photo. In the 2nd photo the two smaller Green Giants on the left and right (not the large one in the middle) are the two that I chopped apart with a shovel to make two trees with one lead each. The one on the left needed a stake. I have not removed it yet. Hope this info helps you!

welcome to the forums .... where are you ... it might matter ... but to say the same thing.. my way ... interior yellowing ... and eventual browning is NORMAL ... and cyclical .... increased by any stresses from whatever ... no evergreen holds its leaves/needles forever.. and the oldest are shed.. and they are always interior ones.. as the plant grows out .... obviously your stress was moving them ... perhaps a bit late in the spring.. depending on where you are ... and a bad winter could increase it next spring or fall ... depending on where you are ... it will all fall off.. nothing to do.. and the trees look otherwise fine ... read the link below about watering ... i would MAKE SURE they are watered deeply going into winter ... as it can be a desert out there in some places.. in winter ... i would also suggest come next spring/summer.. you remove the grass under.. and add some mulch ... did i mention location might matter.. lol ... btw .. the price was right.. wasnt it.. lol .. ken https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub

It's been about 2 months so I thought I'd share a few more photos. Here is what they look like now. I'm pretty happy with their growth. They've started to green up, fill in, and grow taller. Some of them are growing over the top of the 4ft electric wire fence post. I've been sticking with my watering routine of every 7 days, but recently just switched to every 5 days because it's been really hot and dry in my area. The most recent issue has been bag worms. I didn't notice them until were in their final stages, so I've just been picking them off and squishing them. I'll spray next year so hopefully that will take care of them. Any advice on which spray to use? Will I have to keep spraying every year? I'm getting in some more mulch and going to mulch on the outside of the trees where is a little skimpy.

Goldilocks Larger oak in woodlands area.The pine in the center/right is a tri-trunked Vanderwolf pyramidal pine. A deer snapped the main trunk down to the ground (dont ask me? :), but luckily three branches also happened to be coming out right at ground level. (replace ground with mound, all my conifers get planted on large mounds). 4 years later and looking good. For all practical purposes, my entire property is woodlands. If you know what those little lily pad(bottom left of tree and all the dead ones from roundup) weeds are, let me know, they choke out everything. Looking for solutions. Until two years again I did nothing. Then i realized my smaller conifers were getting completely enveloped with vegetation. I also have various other larger types vines with leaves as well. P. Abies Skylands probably planted in the shadiest spot anyone on here has tried to plant a skylands in. This is in front of my front fence but before the street. When I bought the place in 2012 it was a 30’x80’x25’ rectangular prism of honeysuckle. I cut out all but the largest 15or so. Then cleaned up everything below 6’ so I could walk freely. Most everything above that (which made a 85-90% canopy coverage) stayed, Over the years Ive realized it is a lot of work to keep trimming, honeysuckle grows like crazy, even with the bottom 6’ of branches removed. Their are also a lot of tall trees just south of this in my front yard so this skylands could definately use more sun. In the ground for 4 years(when I cleared the honeysuckle out). Volunteer Ohio Buckeye on right. There are 2 other volunteer buckeyes in this area.
