Dents in my Aloe Vera plant - help!

Two months ago I moved into my own place and as a housewarming gift, my step-sister got me an Aloe Vera plant. I water it once a week and will start cutting back as winter gets nearer. The plant has dents in some of the leaves...the leaves themselves aren't thin, they just have thin dents. I don't know how else to describe it. Also, the ends of nearly all the leaves on the plant aren't pointy, they're straight-edged and brown. Am I underwatering it? Overwatering? My fear is that it isn't getting enough sun. I have it in the room that faces East because there isn't a surface I could set it on in the South room. Any suggestions as to what I can do? Is the plant dying?

Dents you cannot correct. Now I am going to tease you-don't iron them. Many species get bad points from too much water, (often this will be cut off in order to keep the plant neat so they can sell it), check out your soil, size of pot, see what things this group will suggest. I never have grown this species in a pot. They grow wild - in the ground here where I live, thely also get quite large. I don't believe that they can be grown year- round where you live. I don't know if they can be grown in the house. Norma

Mackenzie91, did you ever find a solution to this issue. I am having the exact same issue with my aloe plant. I have dents in my aloe leaves and the tips of my leaves have not pointy and only smooth.

Certainly not here to dispute the name of the Lowes plant. I bought a couple of the same plants, chuckling to myself that ALL of the aloes were labeled Aloe vera. Mine are PIG, growing well and curiously have lost their spots. You can see some of the spots remain on the bottom, oldest leaves. So I'm pondering the label again. Of course it hasn't flowered yet (about 3 years old), which will add to the info. I guess I wonder if Aloe vera pups start with spots. I have no pups to compare. I would worry about them dying too, but look at the dates of the posts: first one is June 16th, so photo was taken no later than that date. Second post is today-August 4th. So I am thinking that if they didn't die in about 6 weeks or longer, and had been sitting in same location they must be acclimitized well...of course that is just the way I think :) and could be very wrong! And greening of the plants on left suggest to me that even little bit of shade and little more water (drops from window AC units) makes quite a difference
