Aeonium and Echeverias in community Pot
Comments (12)Greg, I have one plant labeled Black Prince from a Cactus nursery and I hope they know their plants (maybe), and one I'm not sure of but looks different. But I assume they both need the same care. When I get my camera out I'll take a side-by-side photo. I live 5 miles inland from the ocean, just at the edge where, if there is fog, the ocean fog ends, or barely covers in the mornings and burns off later, or the fog just doesn't quite get to me by a quarter of a mile or so. So I call it zone 11. The roses just aren't happy about it until summer when it is sunny. This echeveria is in the lath house so it gets some sun. I'm just trying not to kill it....See MoreWhat kind of succulent is this? Aeonium? Echeveria?
Comments (11)haha no worries. i always love seeing plants make it back from near obliteration! go zwartkopf! we have lots of aeoniums planted in the back as well but i am worried with the winter coming up, because here in sf it rains a lot during the "winter," and even though that's the season for aeoniums' growth, i think that the water will be too much. i have been thinking of how to protect them when the time comes. maybe i'll plant an umbrella. :) in the meantime i have really enjoyed watching this aeonium develop and learn about its odd "behaviors"...See Moreleaf drop on Portulacaria afra and Aeonium Kiwi
Comments (11)Yep, try switching their locations. Here in Calif. my Portulacaria afra, is not doing well, I have it outside, and it's unhhappy. Mine is also variegated. I do have it in a Western position. The Aeoniums, are really smiling, they like it cool, and I have pulled leaves off the plants to start new ones, I plant to cut the head off as well, and restar so it will be larger. One is in flower so it will die, too late to save it now. So I'm trying the leaves, if you keep cutting the heads every year, they will grow larger and think they are a teenagers again, and will not go to seed. Do not attempt this during the summer. I hope I'm making myself understood....See MoreHELP! Why did my Aeonium-Kiwi die?
Comments (30)I'm on a laptop ..I don't own a cell phone people nowadays are just to "busy" their like pod people everywhere you look someone is using one..anyway I took the aeonium out of the soil and washed the roots off and pulled any dead roots I saw off it has lots of lil white roots (Dear God I hope that's a good sign) and it doesn't smell funky and the stem all the way down to the root system is strong and sturdy there was some dark coloration near the bottom of the stem but I rub it with a q-tip and it cleaned up.. Thanks Rina i'll try Houzz Photos maybe that will work for me.. Nope still nada no pic =( It worked one time and then when I tried to change the pic (I uploaded the wrong one) it wouldn't let me ..darn.. Should I spray the roots with an organic fungicide before I repot the plant just to be safe?...See Morecactusmcharris, interior BC Z4/5
