first snows and new flowers opening

I'm forced into having Cherub and Peach Versicolor in the house as they both have flowers opening. The peach never flowered all year, nor last year, and now has the first flower coming out of its calyx with another bud sticking up. The Cherub (this is the substitute that my neighborhood nurseryman gave back to me) might have 50 buds, the first one just dropped out of its calyx. Yes I know, pictures will come. I just hate bringing in the ones that have been out by the front door as whiteflies are on them. Best suggestions for doing the little buggers in before it gets cold tomorrow night?

I have used Murphy's oil soap, for white fly's, you just
use more water than the oil soap in a spray bottle, it's also good for aphids, I have tried safer soap, but I still had them, the Murphy's oil soap smother's them
we had a little bit of snow Friday night, then saturday night it was really cold then Sunday morning, it was 22 degrees, oh Congratulations on your Blooms, I'll bet they are Beautiful

OMG that evil 4 letter word! I agree with Elizabeth about using the Murphy's. Some people combine it with other ingredients and spray their plants. It's a couple capfuls of Murphy's, a shot of isopropyl alcohol, a squirt of dish soap and a quart of water. Use a spray bottle and saturate your plant.

I think I have that same japanese iris and I don't even know it's name. It sure is a pretty one. Your Westbournes are all very pretty. I have so many things blooming now I don't even have to time to upload and post. I hardly have time to even READ the posts here every day and I try to comment on each but I stay up LATE just to do so. So I had to come inside as it is raining in spite of the fact that there was no rain in the forcast. For a while it was just sprinkles and I worked out in the rain but it started harder so I had to quit. Got rid of many weeds out front though before I got chased in. Also did mulching were I weeded. Had planned to do more but we need the rain so I am happy to get it and not complaining. mantis, I don't know how sunfast it will be as it is too new. Kay and Chris, I guess I keep adding orange daylilies because I love the hot colors. nat, I really worked at finding lots of true late and extra late bloomers. And I found lots more and added more for about three years in a row. Now I have sections of beds and other gardenbeds that are late blooming ones. Plus I also have some late bloomers scattered here and there amoung the regular season daylilies. Not that I had planned to have them in the regular season daylily beds but they are just there.

njmomma, Choral Majority is a good late bloomer to have. Linda, I am not sure why two you picked for favorites, Her Royal Highness and Westbourne Peaches Pickled are starting blooming so late. I will have to look them up to check but didn't think they are registered as late blomers. Nancy, I remember UP AGAINST THE SUN did not bloom for me the first year I had it. Then I moved it and thought I killed it and bought another one. But the first one came up in the spring much to my surprise. So I just added extra fans to it with the new one I had bought. Chris, I have daylilies that have yet to open their first blooms of the year. Of course, I also have some that just finished for the year. But as long as I have ones still to bloom then I am very happy. Mantis, that is a shame that you forgot your camera. I just know there was lots to see at Ashwood.

Linda, thanks. For some reason I forgot to get pictures of MONTANA MISS until the very last flower. Nancy, it is hot and the daylily folliage is really looking ratty these days. I have a big sprinkler out watering to try and do some good. I love the bumblebees, they never bother me and I never bother them. Plus we have had lots of honeybeees here this year also. Chris, I am glad you like the bee photo. It is about the best I can do. I usually plant spring sugar snap peas or scarlett runner beans and some sort of blue annual salvia there together in that spot. I like the way it looks together and the Salvia always outlasts the viner.

Thank you for the other ingredients, I'll try that also,
in the basement, the aphids are awful, I tried the safer soap, but it didn't seem too work, so it's back too Murphy's oil soap for me

The Cherub is about to burst, I wonder what my family room will smell like in a week? I counted 70 buds!

How Beautiful your Brug looks, with all those Buds, would you believe, my Peaches & Creme Bloomed in my basement
outside they go from white too Peach, but in the basement
it Bloomed yellow, it has a scent but now as strong as
outside

Diane, I hope Cherub opens up its blooms soon for you! That's how I felt about how long it took Infinity to open up and it is outside. I think the plants are going through what we go through with this crazy weather, i.e., it's cold, it's hot, it's raining, it's windy. Won't be long and I hope it feels your home with wonderful fragrance!

Please, please do post pix of cherub once it colors up. Mine grew well from the cutting I got last fall but I had to bring it in before it bloomed and the young buds fell before developing. I'll really be interested to see it.
My Peach Versi didn't bloom either but if its like mine and blooms it may 'almost' run you out of the house...one of my favs for perfume.

I'll take some pix tomorrow but had to report: Peach Versi opened its only flower tonight while I was out - that one flower is scenting the entire upstairs. Cherub has opened 4 flowers and they're in varying stages of color. But! Barely any scent! This is so interesting.

Last brug photo is the Peach Versicolor. Its scent is so much stronger than Cherub!
