Damage to aloe leaves. chipmunk/mouse?

I've had my (small, ~2 yr old) Aloe plants outside pretty much all summer long without problems. Today I noticed some holes in the leaves. Would a chipmunk/mouse/squirrel take a bite out of an aloe like this? I know they'll eat tomatoes etc, if they are thirsty, but it doesn't look like whatever it was actually ate the leaves, just bit them once. The picture was taken on a picnic table, but the pots have been sitting on the ground. The picture is also of the worst one; there a couple other plants with 1 or 2 wounds as well.
