How to produce better tasting oranges?

Hi all,

I have an orange tree in the backyard. Last winter I tried some of them but they were quite sour and I couldn't just eat them. Although there were quite a few of them, the size of each fruit was not really big either.

Now I am wondering if there is anything I should do to produce better tasting oranges. What should I do? Fertilizing? Trimming branches and thinning it out?

There is a lemon tree nearby (like 25 feet away) and I am also wondering cross-pollination may have affected the taste. I can clearly see it from the lemon tree as it is producing very round lemons.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!
