Serviceberry Trees- Where can I find them?

Does anybody know where I can buy a serviceberry tree in the Raleigh area? I want to plant one in my yard, but I can't find them anywhere. Thanks in advance.

I'd be really surprised if you couldn't find Amelanchier at:
Garden Supply on Old Aex Rd in Cary
Logan's in Raleigh
Fairview south on Holly Springs Rd

I know they had some at Durham Nursery on Hillsborough Rd a couple of months ago.

I all else fails, I live near Chapel Hill and I have some seedlings, although it would be awhile before they become trees. My tree came from Southern States where they special ordered it for me. Be aware, though, it is a member of the apple family, and if you live near any junipers (and who doesn't?), cedar-apple rust could become a problem.

Are they too large to pull once you notice them? Woody weeds are usually pretty easy to spot and pull. Otherwise, Roundup. It has a very short half-life, and when it enters the soil, it binds to the soil and becomes inert. The microorganisms in the soil then process it and there's no trace left in the soil. I used to be very anti-herbicide till one of my professors gave me the science behind it.

Thanks nosoccermom. I will definitely ask about that. Today I measure to see how many of which length I will need. Then pop them off an email and hope that they will work with me. I am doing a "face lift" so I am hoping I can justify the cost by explaining to myself that I am not buying cabinets. Plus, the beauty of the things should draw the eye away from the dang arch on the cabinet doors.

You can expand your search by using the correct cultivar name 'Glenform' - Rainbow Pillar is just the trademarked or market name. Various wholesale growers in the PNW are offering this selection - Blue Heron, Surface Nursery, etc. - so should be available through local retail outlets. Retail nurseries start bring in their fresh stock for the season in this area beginning next month, with the greatest availability typically in mid to late March (which is also an ideal planting time) so you may be just a tad early in your expectations.
