OT : double purple Datura pics

For those of you who love them like I do. Here is the one blooming it's little heart out right now. I did however learn a huge lesson this year with Datura's. Never believe the first blossoms to be the TRUE flower. I have seen a almost white with only a outside purple edge turn dark purple in the cooler weather. Also this one came up with just a single flower! So when I am sending seeds out...it wasn't me messing up...it is NATURE lol.

I'm going to have to take back everything I said about none of my doubles having a fragrance. I was out last night and kept smelling a light sweet scent and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. It was a patch of double daturas!!!!!! I can't imagine that they are a different variety then what is in the rest of the yard but these smell wonderful and the others still have no scent. Very strange indeed! Karyn

As always..if there are seeds...Lucy will safe them lol Brenda YES it was. but it did not drop. but it looked so beautiful. Bloom lasted 2 days too :-) I had so many single whites from seeds. That I just put them in gallon pots. Just can not get myself to just throw something out lol. So those 2 ladies really liked them while they walked by one day and walked off with a couple of pots too lol glad you all enjoyed this one :-) Lucy

yupp I was shooting in the direction of his car lol After I went out this morning I indeed saw that this year some of the blooms do not even have ANY LAVENDER in them. This is a ever changing Dat lol I think it has not made up its mind yet what it wants to be when it grows up roflmao Pam actually I THOUGHT we had enough rain last night...just got in from re potting some seedlings and potting up the Brug cuttings that i had in water a few days and finally got time to put em in dirt lol But I did get a few very nice pictures this morning. Not with raindrops but it looks like the dew is covering the whole flower. Very pretty. Tim you should try them. I love them very much. I do however love the HUGE single white Datura. When you walk out at night and in the morning and they are everywhere...they just GLOW Lucy

Thank you, they do look so much darker in color now and ARE very pretty.
Daniella no it is not the same one lol. But all seeds came out of the same order and I learned myself now that they just produce whatever they want to lol
I know but the disappointment only lasted until you send me so generously double AND triple purple dat seeds.

Lucy, they are beautiful! I can never see enough datura pictures! Thanks for sharing your info about the color changes. Did you prune it into that shape or did it grow that way? It looks very nice in your pot.

I am so happy that you finally have purple datura blooms. Aren't they pretty? I love them and mine is cranking out some pretty blooms too. I like the shape of yours too.

Joyce soon the seeds will be on the way to your house from the double dats. To all the others I promised them, also. I do not prune Dats. So it is the natural shape ti grew into. This one grew the best and mostest lol. I will test some more next year what they like and dislike. Karma is such a inspiration to Dats and Brugs.
