Todds - I LOVE my pullout pantry - it is extremely efficient use of space - not one wasted inch and it's only 10" wide. I'd happily line up 2 or more to make good use of space. It's accessible from both sides so you could make it twice as wide and it would still be just as efficient. Wider than that and you'd start to lose stuff in the middle. Keep in mind it's 30" deep (we have 30" deep countertops and the whole wall lines up) so there is a TON of storage in there. The water chiller is an Everpure, I don't recall which model and under the sink is so tight I couldn't get in there to find out even if I wanted to. I bought the entire system from Cleanwatersystems.com IIRC and GErry was a great help. I did compare brands but my main criteria was how cold the chiller got the water as we gave up ice and water in the door of the fridge. This one was the coldest and I think it is pretty much always in the high 30's/ very low 40's which is cold enough for us. The Hafele magic corner units are very expensive again IIRC we paid about $450 through the cabinet maker for each one. Because of the 30" deep cabinets and the limited space for a door opening, they were the best bet for us. Believe it or not, I have even more stuff stored behind them and back in the corner of the cabinets. The back corner is for stuff I literally use once a year as I have to take out the drawers to get there. In a standard 24" deep cabinet these would be the bees knees. Good luck with your remodel. The best is when it's all done and you find you have a kitchen that not only looks great but is great to work in.

Thanks everyone. Debrak...I have a similar problem with laminate. The house we are renting while the house is finished has laminate that has shown water damage and is swollen like that. Every time you lean against the sink, particles from underneath the counter will be left on your shirt. I realize it is old and maybe just needs replaced, but it has made laminate way less appealing. The mistake I made in all of this was to go shopping for granite before ever looking at laminate. I picked the granite that I thought would look best with my floors and cabinets....then when i thought I could save some money by using laminate, I decided to go shopping for the laminate. The problem that I kept having was that I was looking for a laminate with the same color background as the granite. I could never find a beige in laminate that didn't look peachy or pink against my beige walls. Then when I realized I was not going to save any money using laminate, it seemed a no brainer to me also. Senator13 I def. like the granite better. If I had really picked the laminate I liked best, instead of trying to pick what was most affordable...it would have been even more expensive than the granite that I liked best. Long story short....they installed the soft giallo ornamental yesterday. I am happy with my decision. Not because I am really that "granite centered", but it really was what I liked best color wise. I am however...not doing granite in the laundry room. It was going to require a whole slab more and cost almost as much as the kitchen and 2 baths. Laminate will be put in there. So I guess I am doing both. Had we been more "handy" and felt comfortable DIY...laminate could have saved us quite a bit...but diy's we are not, unfortunately:(

snbtwins- i measured for you, the window wall to fridg wall is 16 feet. the range wall to the end of the island is 12 feet.Hope that helps. Pball- i put the open carved toekick on the spots where it bumps out only, so it stands out. So the sink is bumped out 2 1/2 feet, which i love, it gives me alot of extra room behind the sink and makes it stands out nicely.The fridg and pantry also bump out alittle bit, just enough to distinguish the 2 diff. bottom moldings.I did regular base on the rest. Most people do not do base moldings on their cabinets. I guess they feel you can hit them alot.we don't wear shoes in our house, so for us it's not a problem. I really wanted the finished look on the bottoms.I don't think they consider the island standard. There is a base molding on there. I think standard for them is having it open on the bottom, hope that answers your question.

Very likely not, Talley. Night with low illumination and an intruder in your home can make it difficult to impossible to determine which set of cheeks is facing you. That concept is factored into the law in any number of states that apply the "castle doctine." Numerous cases involving shootings inside the home at night, including several that have resulted in the intruder having holes in his back, have gone before district attorneys in Georgia, Florida, Texas, and other states with similar laws and have either been summarily declared justified or been no true billed by a grand jury. About the one one I can think of that did go to a jury is one where the homeowner apparently shot the intruder, then stood over him and shot him again at close range as the individual was defenseless. Shooting someone in the back as they flee during daylight hours is another matter, as is shooting them in the back when they're outside your home, but when night comes down and someone is in your home, the law in most states heavily favors the homeowner. More and more states have adopted the legal standard that if someone enters your home uninvited, they have just surrendered many, if not most, of their protections and recourses under law.
