Abies nordmanniana 'Ambrolauri' (seedlings)
conifers
I found my seeds in the fridge last night and all had been germinating because I forgot about them... They had been in cold stratification for two extra months. So that's ok.
Then I got to wondering how fast these grow. The only Google hit was a New Zealand Nursery which reported in seven years a size of one meter by one meter.
Will this tree grow faster after this (or grow faster in my Illinois climate and rich soil) and if growth as a juvenile is typical as mentioned, can I expect as it becomes older to put on more growth?
Other than that, I'm thrilled. Last winter I had very few germinate, this winter hundreds.
Thanks very much,
Dax
P.s. I'd also like to know more about the history/origin of this (seedling) strain as well, or anything else of interest such as cone photos, foliage, larger specimen photos, etc. Thanks again.
