what is wrong with my bob why do i have mush!! help please

Okay I'm tryin not to freak!!!! ItÂs very hard!. I have lost some cuttings, I donÂt know what I did wrong! I just went down in to my plant room and was checking on my BOB and I noticed I have some rotting or something! MUSH ! on the bottoms, what is going on? Can any one tell me how to make it stop? I have already lost like 4 cuttings I'm so bummed!. So not kool! Please help! I donÂt want to lose anymore!

I'm not the best at advice (fairly new too), but the brugs should be bare rooted or not potted for this method. My understanding is that once they are potted, they need to be on the dry side.

When I did this, I used a smaller container so that the cuttings didn't fall over and still changed water every few days.

let it really dry out. Unless it starts wilting, let it go to the weekend. Less water is better than more water. Believe me, I have waterlogged plants in pots here from the May-June continual rains, lots of yellow leaves, some really sad blossom end rot on my tomatoes (i.e. from the continual soaking in rainwater - interferes with calcium uptake which causes the fruit to rot when it's grown and almost ready to eat - very demoralizing) - you gotta get those plants dry and then keep them dry. Don't water unless you have to - unless their wilting etc. Then get them on a regular minimalist regimen of one good thorough watering once or maybe twice a week in the early morning. As a side note, I've been having a really tough time with serranos. Of the 15 or so varieties I'm growing, my two serranos are the least robust and seem to react the worst to the weird rainy, cold weather we've had this year.

Brewsters are notorious for the leaf tips browning. For me about 25% for the tip will brown. Brewsters are 'water lychees.' They love water and almost can not be overwatered. The light green color may be from nutritional deficiency (pics would help). But during winter, it helps lychee's bear heavier fruit by inducing stress to the tree. Here are my cultural tips: - Fertilize in spring after the first flush is 4-5", in case it is flowering this will be sufficient size for the flush not to be vegatative. Thereafter I fertilize an appropriate amount every other month with the last in August. (I use palm fertilizer, I like the minor elements to include iron). - Do not water, but under very high drought, from September 1 to the same 4-5" spring flush. Thereafter I water once a week. - On the months I do not fertilize I spray the foliage with a foliar spray. - If feasible apply a thick layer of mulch. Using a router cannot print what am I doing wrong? PLEASE help!

Well. if you can print from the desktop, at least you can transfer files to it with your thunb drive (as opposed to going to the library). When you try to print, use the drop-down menu in the print dialog box, and see if you have the printer listed. If so, select it from the list. If you select it, and the printer status is "idle", you should be ready to go. (This is assuming that you already have the proper driver installed on the laptop.) We just went through the same aggravation with our HP J6480. In our setup, we have a home network. The printer is connected to the router (not the adjacent desktop). Basically, if you go to Start / My Network Places (In WinXP), you can create a Workgroup. Then you do the same on the other computers, using the same name, and opting for "file and printer sharing". If the printer is connected to the desktop directly, make sure the computer is on, and that file and print sharing is turned on. Then go to Control Panel / Printers, and look for that printer. Right click on it, then "set as default". Then see if you can print. Last, but not least, try unplugging the printer and waiting a minute. Plug back in, turn it on, and you might be able to print. I'd guess your rose bushes have been visited by the same rose slugs (sawfly larvae) that tend to attack rose bushes every late spring/early summer. This is usually a temporary problem--then the good predator bugs come along and gobble up the rose slugs, and there is no more problem. However, the bush is often left with ugly damaged leaves. I would just pluck off the worst looking ones, and then wait patiently for the bush to produce new leaves (followed by buds and then blooms). In the future, it would help if you checked the bushes in the late spring/early summer for tiny, tiny green wormlike things--usually on the underside of the leaves. When they are present, squish them. That will keep them somewhat under control until the good predator bugs arrive a couple weeks later. As for the not flowering well problem, that is just part of the normal bloom cycle of any rose. A rose blooms for a couple weeks, then the blooms deteriorate (turn brown) and fall off, then the bush rests and renews itself, then it starts blooming again. Most roses go through several bloom cycles per season. When the blooms deteriorate, the bush will look better if you deadhead it (pick of the brown old blooms). Deadheading sometimes encourages the bush to begin blooming sooner also. Hope that helps. Kate

Cassie your method looks good. I would guess that some of the ones you lost are probably ones that may have liked to potted in soil and not in a BOB. Just an educated guess is that some like soil and others like water to be rooted. I have stopped using water for rooting, and have gone to potting soil. Every now and then if I get a small or very special cutting, I'll put them in a glass by my kitchen sink. Then 3-4 times a day, I'll wash them and change the water. Extreme I know, but if it's special, I'll do it. I also use hydrogen peroxide in my water, just a cap full for each glass that I have the cuttings in. Also keep your water level low. No more than 1 to 1.5 inches. Seems like the higher the water level, the apt they are to rot.

ednam thanks i think your right. I planted my pink beauty well whats left of it in soil but yeah i keep the ones in my kitchen that look like they are happy. lol Ill get some peroxide and try it. and ill cut back the water level. I also added superthrive in the water I wonder ..... i also just added a heater. Thanks Pam, and thanks ednam
